Don't buy this laptop. Don't buy the 13.3". I just got one. You will be sorry. The build quality is horrible, the top lid is more flexible than a credit card and the cooler only has 3 speeds: off, vacuum cleaner exhaust, and 747.

Also, something is up with the screen, as the actual screen, display wise, it's fuzzy... I heard it's very, very crisp and clear, but for some reason, the desktop (and icon text... and some other windows text) is top quality, and then some software has this fuzzy, low-quality text. I don't know what's up with that.

If you don't care about lid flexibility, fan noise (oh and it's not just the noise, it's the way it starts too... like... all of a sudden from 0 to 100% for 5 seconds, then off, then again.... it's just all kinds of bad) or text that will make your eyes bleed (like I said, not all of it, some is actually crisp clear) then by all means, get the laptop - because if there's something I can't complain about it, it's performance. The GTX 980M blows everything out of the water. It's really good. However, without it, I'm not convinced. I mean I actually have a lag to my right click on the desktop. Really? I had a 4 years old HP laptop before, and it still didn't have a lag when opening menus or right clicking.

I've did most of the testing and so far everything seems to be functioning under normal parameters so I don't know... I have the RAM to test left, maybe there's an issue there.

Fan boost at boot is totally normal on most if not all pc's. The fan controls are windows based via the hotkey driver, so until the driver loads, the fans ramp to full as there is nothing to govern their speeds, then the driver loads and takes control from the bios and they ramp down to normal rpm's.

If you're getting lag on the mouse, that's almost certainly driver related and possibly for the screen issue too if it's only happening in certain programs. I'd ask for support rather than writing off the machine. Did you install the os and drivers yourself?

Hey zalmoxis, sorry to hear your pc isn't problem free. I hope you can fix it. Please post in the thread if you succeed and how. I have actually already bought it and are awaiting it's arrival soon. I of course hope I won't have the same issues you are reporting.

Some reviews can be difference of opinion and difference experience etc. Peoples standard are different also. Some people think that the vortex screens are too bendy to but there thin monitors and as long as your not bend testing it nothing bad will happen

I agree with SpiderTracks with regards to the fan, my laptop also gives a near 100% boost on start up and shut down and this is normal.

I would also think that because this is a tight 13" chassis cooling will require a bit more fan power than a roomier chassis and that's why the fans perhaps kick in more. My Vortex constantly makes a fan noise that can be heard but in my experience its not a problem, these laptops are performing amazing graphics for gaming and as a result fan noise should be expected.

However don't take what im saying as being necessarily correct or this model as i have had no hands on experience with this particular model just sharing my thoughts and experience with the gaming laptops i have come across in my time.

I look forward to your review on your machine :)

This is actually due to Windows 8 high DPI handling. For programs that do this, right click on the shortcut, go to compatibility, then check "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
