2060 refresh

Have any laptops with a 2060 refresh GPU been out in the wild yet?
Will this increase from 90w to 110-115W help their performance much? How would it fair compared to a 2070 maxQ?

If the part says GDDR6 on it (non refreshed are GDDR5, the GDDR6 and Super line only currently available on Intel Processors in laptops), then it's the refresh part, as for power, manufacturers have always been allowed to push 115w through their Standard/MaxP parts, only the MaxQ parts are 80-90w parts.

As for the performance of the 2060 to the 2070MaxQ, there isn't an awful lot in it, but like the Car guys say "there's no replacement for displacement" and in this case displacement is Cuda cores, where the 2060 is 1920 and the 2070 MaxQ is 2304.... a mild overclock will have more effect on the 2070S than on the 2060.

I know not a 'definitive' answer, but you get the idea

Ah ok, That makes more sense to me now then. Thanks for the explanaition of it all.

No probs at all, remember the 2070 having more cuda cores means the DLSS will work better too, just thought I'd add that.

I don't think I will be able to stretch the extra money to get a 2070 card unfortunately. I wish I could.

I'm too blind nowadays to use 15.6 lol, but yeah feel for you.

Post the spec you're looking at perhaps some of the guys can help you eek out what you need. Also is you wanna save a few bob, buy the windows license elsewhere and take it off your build, usually pick it up sub £50 and save yourself £60 or so on your build.

Ok I shall do. Should I create a new thread?
I usually knock off the OS anyway as can be had cheaper buying on its own.

Well ideally just looking for best setup for my money.
Ive looked at pretty much everything from AMD and Intel.
I was set on a 4800H with a 2060 but looks like it got pulled and no longer shows.
However I don't have any preference of CPU.

I will say I don't require any hard drives as I have a 1TB M2 drive and a 2TB SSD sitting at home and I won't require an OS either.

So basically, best bang for buck on GPU, CPU and decent RAM.
I was hoping to get a 17.3" below £1300 but unsure if that is even possible if I were to aim for a 2070 GPU.

That's an AMD Ryzen 4000 with 2060 (highest you can go on Renoir) it's a good machine.

Or something similar to what I've ordered

Unfortunately if you want 2070 or above has to be intel 10th gen, which drives up the price.

The guys might have some other ideas though.

Morning Charles,
Yeah that AMD one you had configured is pretty much exactly the one I was looking to order.

I did realise that if I went a 2070 route, It would have to be intel.
I was sort of hoping that like some other builds you could remove the HDD and OS to keep costs down.
I would have considered a 9th gen also but it seems the HDD removal option is gone on many configurators.
