3070 vs. 3070Ti price differential

So even late last week, the price difference between a 3070 and 3070Ti got as low a £5-£10.

Right now on the configurator it's more like £85. This has been caused by the price of the 3070 dropping, rather than the 3070Ti rising in price.

Just alerting people to this. It was a free option to go with the Ti but right now people may want to switch back to the 3070.

Absolutely right. When the price differential was smaller the 3070ti was a smart decision and I recommended a few 1440p builds to go with the 3070ti. Now the 3070 is getting cheaper it is the way to go for a lot of builds. Sadly the 6700XT continues to be expensive and the 3060ti continues to be a myth so the 3070 is the go-to 1440p card. (plus maybe the 3060 for 1440p 60/75hz, although 120-144hz is well worth it!)

I’m intrigued to see where the GPU market is in 2-3 months. Right now a gaming laptop is pretty attractively priced. But if desktop GPU’s move anywhere close to RRP - a desktop gaming PC looks far more attractive.

I can justify £2k+ for a 3080 level machine. But when they start nudging £3k I have to step back and let the market settle down.

I'm holding off for exactly the same reasoning. I've been waiting for this current generation of CPU and GPU, but current pricing and availability - no way, I have the luxury I have fully working PC and laptop allbeit on old tech, but can still game perfectly reasonably, I understand not everyone is in that position and needs a system asap.

For me though, I'll sit back and wait.

I'd really really like a X670 mobo and DDR5 RAM in an ideal world, wouldn't be averse to waiting for those to hit.
