3080 problems (and terrible Minecraft fps)

I added a Gigabyte 3080 OC to my PCSpecialist build on Saturday and have been running into a few problems:

  • Asus motherboard (Crosshair VIII Hero) indicates on start-up that the graphics card is faulty;
  • Minecraft Java FPS is abysmal. Usually between 100-300fps, but sometimes even dropping below 60; and
  • Crypto-mining software refusing to mine with the card.
My first benchmark on Userbenchmark found the card to be well below average. I did another benchmark the following day and the card was performing averagely.

On the flip side, it has been performing very well for it's main function. Getting 80fps on Metro Exodus at 4k with ray tracing and handling VR games perfectly. Temperatures have been no higher than 71 under extreme load, and about 60 under high load.

Has anyone had similar problems or can advise whether I should get the card replaced? Also, any ideas to improve Minecraft fps?

Thank you!

Specs:
Gigabyte 3080 OC
3900 XT
32gb ram at 3200mhz
1tb m.2 ssd and 2tb hdd

If you don't have Steam, these 2 are good alternatives to 3DMark (haven't personally used them but know both are highly rated):

Good idea, I just ran Timespy and these were the results:

The score seems to be really good but it couldn't identify any details about my system?

There's definitely something not right with that configuration.

How have you connected the GPU? Are you using dual power rails? What PSU is it that you have?

You'd think if something with one of those wasn't right, that it would cause problems with an intensive game like Metro or VR stuff rather than something relatively simple like Minecraft? Of course, computers are never simple though

Always the unknown with a PC. It's often the simplest explanation :D

That is strange...never seen nothing showing in details like that before

The GPU score seems about right for a 3080 OC so it's definitely performing as it should.
Connected via two 6 and 2 pin connectors via an RMx Corsair 850w PSU.

Originally, I was using the Acer Predator x27 but I switched to a 1440p LG monitor because I preferred the higher FPS. I think both monitors are fairly new, the motherboard beeps at me regardless of whether I start it with the monitor turned on or not.

I have the latest Geforce drivers and Windows has determined that I have the latest drivers also. I downloaded the drivers from Gigabyte as well. Everything seems to be up to date. I have been having this issue with Windows though which started happening after installing the new card, idk if it's related:

Not sure how to fix this error. I had a similar error where it wouldn't update things suddenly appear in August and it continued until I ended up doing a complete Windows reinstall a few weeks ago and it works fine now. It is entirely possible that the issues are related to Windows if more than just Windows update isn't perfect. Might be worth trying a full clean Windows install from bootable media to rule out Windows as the cause

Been avoiding this but I will try

Yeah, it's a pain...I spent 2 months trying to avoid it myself...however, when troubleshooting issues, the first thing to rule out is Windows being the cause, especially when it already has at least one issue within it
Yeah thanks for the help, I'll do this tomorrow in hopes it'll fix something

I'm also waiting for Scan to call me regarding the 3080 in case it's just a faulty GPU
