Hello guys,

I recently bought a computer with Pcspecialist and my computer came with a "3GB AMD RADEON™ R9 280X - DVI, HDMI, DP - DX® 11" so, when my Graphic card pass of 50% of fan speedy its makes a terrible noise.

I contacted pc specialist and they said to me to contact Asus because this problem is a problem from then, I contacted Asus and they said to contact pcspecialist for that they can change the R9 280x for me.

I do not know what I can do about it, can I fix this problem for myself or have a way to pcspecialist change to me my R9?

Thank you

I am surprised PCS told you to contact ASUS. I would raise the issue again with PCS, I am assuming your system is still under warranty? and the GPU was bought from PCS?

Yes, I bought all my PC with PCS, yes my system is still warranty, the PCS said to me that this is a problem factory, something like that. And yes all my PC I bought from PCS.

If I knew about this problem I would not have a bought a Graphic Driver from ASUS.

When you say "when my Graphic card pass of 50% of fan speedy its makes a terrible noise." can you describe the noise? All GPU fans start kicking out a heap of noise when they hit 50%+, its just what they have to do to keep cool.

I'm guessing PCS think that is the problem here, otherwise they would replace your GPU no problems.

Well the 280x is a loud graphics card... maybe that is what they meant by factory problem?

Maybe yes.

Sorry for the delay guys.

It's like Noises (tec tec tec) coming out of the fan, when my fan stay more than 50% makes this noise, it is as if the fan had hitting something while turning.

I dont know if I talk with PC Especialist again to change the graphic card to me or try to solve for myself, I cant call to PCS because I dont have a good English, so, is terrible to explain by telephone, is better by text or personally.

And I saw the e-mail that I sent about this problem, they do not said to talk with Asus I asked if I need to talk with then and they did not answer me, the answer was:

Hello Leandro

Please move the wire that is rubbing on the fan and when the fans on graphics cards ramp up they do get noisy, this is not a fault it is the design of all graphics cards to keep them cool.

Regards,

PC Specialist Support Team

Don't have wire rubbing in my Graphic card, I checked it.

My warrant is "3 Year Silver Warranty (1 Year Collect & Return, 1 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour)"
I received this PC in November 2013

Thank you guys

if you go into the catalyst control centre and manually change the fan speed does it instantly kick in at a certain percentage?

I have a 7870 and if I set the fan speed to anything between 64/72% I hear exactly what your describing. I think what happens is it sets up a resonance with the plastic on the GPU or something. Try moving the fan slider up or down a little and see if you can make it go away.

Yes, when I go to Control center and change the fan to 50% or more start this noise, I will do it that you said to me and I post here.

Is it anything after 50%, mine goes away within 10-15%.

Are you running an overclock at all? Do you have a good case? if no overclock and a decent case then you could grab MSI afterburner or something and set a custom fan profile, keeping the fan speed below 50% until the card reaches 72/75+ degrees then try and have the fan ramp up to a point where you no longer get the ticking.

Mine is alright because the fan never really goes above 50% anyway.

I am not using any overclocking, but have a good case and speed hardly reaches 50% but even not having to use it at that speed, and if one day I need? I would like to fix this noise as soon as possible. So I came here to know if you have had similar problems, if this is something that PCS should investigate and exchange.

But I will do what you said to me and I tell here what happened.

My card was not supplied by PCS it's something I bought and fitted later. What im saying is that this is nothing to do with PCS, the card isn't really faulty its just a resonance in the shrouding.

If the fan isn't needing to go 50% then your probably going to be just fine. if you are not overclocking 50% would be about the max I would expect.

Have you checked inside the case? I had a ticking noise at one point as one wire was just about touching a fan so that it made a ticking noise. If not then it could be either a faulty fan (if it makes it when it goes 50%-100%) or as mantadog said it could just be to do with the material used and it resonating.

The noise persist, but only pass 50% or more my fan speedy, Maybe I never need to use my fan in this velocity, but I would like a good quality of my product, you understand me?

The noise is equal in this video:

Wow ok, if its that bad then its broken. I had imagined something quieter, that is link an angle grinder. The fan is rubbing something. Get it sent back to PCS.
