Hi,

warning im not very technical .....

i purchased this from here ......

Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Eight Core CPU (3.6GHz-4.4GHz/36MB CACHE/AM4) 3800x only offers about 2% performance improvement, not worth it

Get 3 Months of XBOX Game Pass for PC w/ select AMD Ryzen CPUs
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF X470-PLUS GAMING (DDR4, 6Gb/s, CrossFireX) - RGB Ready!
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (4 x 8GB) Much faster RAM which is important with AMD
Graphics Card

2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 1030 Only has 1 HDMI, the other is Display Port, so you'd need an adapter for the second monitor but most modern screens come with DP
1st Storage Drive

NOT REQUIRED
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB INTEL® 660p M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (upto 1800MB/sR | 1800MB/sW) Much faster M2 SSD, over 3 times the speeds
DVD/BLU-RAY Drive

NOT REQUIRED
Power Supply
CORSAIR 550W TXm SERIES™ SEMI-MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET Much better quality PSU, semi passive so will be almost silent most of the time. Drop to VS450 if noise not a factor
Power Cable

1 x 1 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Processor Cooling
STANDARD AMD CPU COOLER No need for anything more, the stock is excellent
Thermal Paste

STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Wireless/Wired Networking
WIRELESS 802.11 Gigabyte GC-WB1733D-I AC 1734Mbps + BT5 PCI-E CARD

Really happy with it etc, im running 2 monitors from the GPU as you can see from the pics. I would like to run a 3rd monitor, but the HDMI port above the Ethernet doesn't work, this is because (i think) AMD doesnt have integrated GPU ?

Im a professional gambler so am just running live streams from casinos or casino slots but would like more screen space. is there negatives from running a 3rd monitor from the dp port on the motherboard? If so its a new 3 hdmi GPU, any recommendations compared to what i already have?

thank you

Sorry pic wont upload

Not an expert on this since oddly I've never actually tried in the last decade to run a display off a desktop's motherboard ports. I just always have a discrete card. Your AMD 3700X CPU has no iGPU so I'm not even sure you will be able to run a monitor off the motherboard ports. It may expect a discrete GPU, or the presence of a discrete GPU will disable the motherboard port.

You don't seem to need GPU processing power, just more ports, so you have various options.

Buy a new GPU card with say 3 or 4 monitor support and have all three monitors running off that. Example. https://www.amazon.co.uk/PNY-NVIDIA...NVIDIA+P400&qid=1627811759&s=computers&sr=1-1

Buy a cheap refurb (not second hand) GPU card and run the extra monitor off that. Example https://www.bargainhardware.co.uk/nvidia-quadro-nvs310-1gb-gddr3-pcie-x16-lp-gpu. It's an old GPU but it's not clear you need anything better and it will do the job.

Buy a monitor that supports Displayport MultiStream Transport, so that you can daisychain multiple displays off a single Displayport. Example: Dell P2720DC.

Just buy a much bigger monitor that gives you the extra desktop real estate you want, allowing you to stick with 2 monitors.

Others may know of a way to use the motherboard port or USBC but I still think you're better off running multi-displays off the GPUs.

thanks for the reply, i have 2 28in 4k electriq screens which are fine for me, i was going to get a 3rd to match up. So am i adding a gpu or replacing? the one above isnt hdmi but you get the connectors, the one i was looking at 710 gt with 4 hdmi ports, is this not a good option?

many thanks

The GT710 would t be able to push 3x4k monitors.

I would suggest replacing with the PNY, you can order though PCS

I must admit I assumed it would be 1080p or 1440p. If it's 3x4k monitors at 60Hz make sure it's not the older Nvidia P400. You want a new PNY Nvidia T400. It will cost around £110-130. That supports 3x mDP monitors at up to 5120x2880 @ 60Hz. If you think you might end up wanting 4 monitors, then you could just use both cards or move to a T600 which supports 4x mDP monitors. That would cost £170-190.

Hi. Thanks for replies. So is it best to replace or to add ? I won’t ever get 4 screens, no room, or eventually ultra wide etc. Is the p400 better than the 1030 as I could just have x 2 1030 is that possible ? Or even a 2nd hand p1000 ?

As above the gt710 won’t be able to power 3x 4k monitors. You’d have to replace the GPU.

You have no requirement for graphics power at all, so there’s no point in something like the P1000. All you need is max resolution and available ports. The P400 would be ample via display port.
