4K Gaming

Just a general question really, is it worth going for a 4K setup for the cost?

I've been checking out these forums for a while now biding my time before entering the PC market and the 4K thing has got me interested. And now it seems to becoming slightly more affordable, do you think it'd be worth it compared with a tricked out 780ti/ 8gb/ i5-4570?

In terms of quality vs cost that is and not personal preference.

Also, when I do eventually get a PC, I'll be going all in so would need to purchase a monitor and peripherals too, in case that makes a difference to your opinion.

Thanks guys

I've looked at some benchmarks recently for 4k gaming with the 780 ti and to be honest the cost isn't worth the performance you'd get, it doesn't seem like many cards give a very good 4k amount of frames at the minute, personally I think if you want to go higher than 1080 at all, then I'd go for an sli setup, but even then the 780 ti sli isn't amazing at 4k, you should be able to easily find some benchmarks online if you look around a bit and see for yourself!

It's just simply not worth the cost yet, to get 60fps your going to need a monster setup.

here are a couple of links to benchmarks for 4k. You would need quad titans to get 60fps as shown below, a 780ti will get about 30FPS on BF4. I would wait at least a generation yet before I jumped in. The r9 295x and the titan z might change things, but they are hugely expensive.

Thanks guys, that puts things into perspective. I like the idea of having the best graphics, but I'm definitely not 4 x Titan keen!
