4TB disk - can only partition half?

Hello everyone!

I took apart a 4TB external backup drive and stuck it in my rig.

In Disk Management the disk reads as "3726.02GB". There are two unallocated partitions. One is 2048Gb the other is 1678.02GB.

If I right click on the 2048 partition I can create a 'new simple volume'.
If I right click on the 1678 partition I can't do anything, it's all greyed out.

When I create the new volume on the 2048 partition I can only max out the space to 2097150. No higher. I format the volume to NTFS in line with all my other drives. Once created, if I right click I cannot extend the volume into the unallocated space (greyed out). I can shrink the volume to create a third partition. But I cannot extend that into the 1678 unallocated space either.

Appreciate any help. I would like to unlock the entire drive and not be stuck with 2TB on a 4TB disk!

I'm using Partition Wizard to wipe the sectors... no idea what I'm doing but it's filling the sectors with 0 :D
