Queries:-

I read somewhere that the i7-7700HQ can be tuned down to demand less power. Will I get the full benefit of this processor in this chassis with only 90W total power available?

Worth upgrading thermal paste?

Worth upgrading the wireless card to the vPRO version?

Thanks all!

PS: Youtube....if you were wondering.

I would expect so. The GPU has a 25W TDP afaik

Instead of the WD Blue I'd go for the 850 Evo. It's a bit faster and I think also has Assassin's Creed Origins bundled free.

You say "no hard core gaming" - note that the MX150 is borderline for even very soft core gaming. It wouldn't run Witcher 3 (released in 2015) at 1080p at the lowest settings with acceptable FPS. It has no headroom for any future titles. If gaming is something you might want to gently dabble during the laptop's lifespan, the Optimus VIII with the GTX 1050 ti would be a much better bet and not all that much more expensive.

If you don't have need of specific features of Win 10 Pro, stick with Home and save some £.
Worth upgrading the wireless card to the vPRO version?
Not unless you need Intel vPro technology. If you don't know whether you need it, you definitely don't need it :)

Worth upgrading thermal paste?
While not necessary, it might shave a few degrees off and help keep the laptop a smidge quieter.
