hi everyone!
just wondering what you would think of the specs as listed below.

my biggest use for the pc would be for photoshop cs5 and cs6 when it comes out, along with the possibility to start using after effects for multimedia files as well.

any info/advice/changes on the spec would be greatly appreciated.

I would get an upgraded case, drop the cpu a notch and get a better HDD as top of the list.

Here is what i would get.

Case
COOLERMASTER CM690 MKII ADVANCED CASE
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i7-2600 Quad Core (3.40GHz, 8MB Cache) + HD Graphics The same CPU as you really, the 0.1Ghz clock speed decrease means nothing, so save the cas and spend it elsewhere.
Motherboard
ASUS® P8Z68-V LX: USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs, ATI®CrossFireX
Memory (RAM)
16GB SAMSUNG DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (4 X 4GB) Probably over the top, but meh it's cheap drop back to 8GB if you want. Easy to add more later should you need to.
Graphics Card
1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti - 2 DVI,HDMI,VGA - 3D Vision Ready The extra CUDA cores will benefit photoshop more than the extra VRAM will
Memory - 1st Hard Disk
2TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD2002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm) Much better HDD, the green is fine for storage but fo your main drive a black is miles better.
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Memory Card Reader
INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (XD, MS, CF, SD, etc) + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT
Power Supply
CORSAIR 650W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX650 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE (£69) Quality PSU, worth the extra cash.
Processor Cooling
SUPER QUIET 22dBA TRIPLE COPPER HEATPIPE INTEL CPU COOLER (£19)
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Facilities
10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT - AS STANDARD ON ALL PCs
USB Options
6 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL (MIN 2 FRONT PORTS) AS STANDARD
Operating System
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit - inc DVD & Licence (£79)
Office Software
FREE Microsoft® Office Starter 2010 (Limited functionality Word & Excel)
Anti-Virus
BULLGUARD INTERNET SECURITY - FREE 90 DAY TRIAL
Warranty
3 Year Standard Warranty (1 Month Collect & Return, 1 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour)
Delivery
STANDARD INSURED DELIVERY TO UK MAINLAND (MON-FRI)
Build Time

Configure Here: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers/intel-sandy-bridge-pc/

Thats just the barebones system, add in your keyboards etc but why not get a router from your ISP? Then all you need is the wireless card from PCS at £19 and you save yourself a few extra £.

I forgot to say about the case, i upgraded the case because the budget case isn't going to be great for what is a fairly powerful system. It should be ok in the budget case, but will be much cooler in a bigger case with better vents. You could drop that to any other case you like the look of, even into the £50 range will be perfectly fine. I have the elite 310 myself and kind of wish i had a better case now i have upgraded a few bits as it does get a bit warmer than it did.

Anyway thanks for the rep, glad to help.

cooler is always better, so much appreciated.
no need for the thanks, glad to!

forgot to ask tho... regarding the "Network Facilities 10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT - AS STANDARD ON ALL PCs"
am i right in saying that as my router is far away from where i'll have the pc, i'm doubtful about the signal, so i could use a powerplug/homeplug with the standard as above?

I presume you are going to be connecting to the router via wireless?

If so then you would need to upgrade to the wireless card, or homeplugs (remember to get 2). The standard ethernet connection on your motherboard wont support wirlesss unless you get an add on PCI card.

If in any doubt about wireless signal get the homeplugs, i have never used them but i hear they work great.

i have a set of 2 homeplugs which i was going to use with the standard ethernet card, so that would probably be ok, but i guess it would do no harm to have the add on wireless PCI card too?
i'm assuming it would have an ethernet port in it as well?

Yeah you will still get the ethernet port, and having the wireless card is always handy should you need one for any reason.

seeing as my c/card company was playing about, i had to wait to this morning to order! :(

but then decided to add 2 x "IIYAMA E2473HDS 24" LED WIDESCREEN, 2 HDMI/DVI-D 1920x1080" to the mix as well! ;)

now the wait truly begins!

again, a massive thanks for all the help!
