I dont I posted this correctly before so I'll try again. I am going to be using the PC for serious 4k editing and Microsoft Flight Sim work. There will also be heavy after effects and blender work. I am wondering if I should go with the 4080 or stick to the 3090 for graphics. I have been listening to JaysTwoCents and LinusTechTips so I thought I'd get an opinion here. I am also wondering if I could save money on the RAM and CPU anywhere while still keeping performance up?

I am currently using the following:

Monitor - Acer Nitro VG270Ubmiipx 27-inch Quad HD Gaming Monitor x 2
Uses - Flight simming / Video editing / Motion Graphics / 3D Rendering
Budget £3k +

There's a lot that's quite challenging here! Basically, don't buy that PC. It's based off the very old and slow X299 platform, which is way outperformed by modern systems.

Do you mean the 4090 rather than the 3090? I can't quite make sense of that part of your post.

I'm going to go off the budget in your build above and spec something. It's arguably overkill for 1440p gaming, but 4k video editing won't complain.

Case
CORSAIR 5000D AIRFLOW TEMPERED GLASS GAMING CASE - WHITE A far better case
Processor (CPU)

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16 Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.7GHz/144MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) The "have it all" CPU: great for gaming, and almost as good as it gets for video editing too
Motherboard

ASUS® TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI (DDR5, PCIe 5.0) - RGB Ready! Plenty of motherboard for that chip
Memory (RAM)

64GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 5600MHz (2 x 32GB) AMD
Graphics Card
24GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4090 - HDMI, DP
Graphics Card Support Bracket
NONE (BRACKET INCLUDED AS STANDARD ON 4070 Ti AND ABOVE)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 6500MB/sW) Boot drive
1st M.2 SSD Drive

2TB SOLIDIGM P41+ GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 4125MB/sR, 3325MB/sW) Games/project drive (a third SSD to be a scratch disk would also be wise)
1st Storage Drive

2TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 256MB CACHE Surely a video editing PC needs some bulk storage space?
Power Supply

CORSAIR 1200W HX SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® PLATINUM, ULTRA QUIET Probably wise with a 4090, though 1000W would probably be OK
Power Cable

1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead, 1.0mm Core)
Processor Cooling
CORSAIR iCUE H115i ELITE CAPELLIX XT RGB High Performance CPU Cooler Very solid cooling

Quick question, is it worth going for the bigger cooler: Corsair iCue H150i Elite capellix XT RGB 270W TDP?
Wouldn't hurt but wouldn't make that much difference. They're very similar size/cooling capacity.

Some people prefer the H150i because it uses up the whole top of the case. Personally I prefer the look of the H115i as it's a little wider. The H115i is probably a little quieter, but it's all tiny differences.

So my new PC arrived while I was on holiday and I'm only getting it set up now. It looks incredible and preforms scarily fast when it comes to editing and ingesting. I was able to ingest a 31min 4k file for proxy in 3:57! Unfortunately I am experiencing a high number of BSOD's which I am currently trying to get addressed in other forums on here
