I am about to buy my first gaming PC. After looking through the forums, getting advice on the specs before I purchase is what seems best. I am keen to spend my money wisely so any bits of advice would be appreciated. I will mainly be using the PC for gaming, particularly FPS games.

Build looks good. I only have 2 small changes to make from what you have. However there are other considerations.

Firstly, I would swap the 7700X out for the 7700. There's no performance difference but there's a huge heat output difference. Next, drop Norton, stick with the built in Windows Defender. It's excellent and won't hijack your system with issues like Norton can.

As for considerations:
White build - You've opted for a white case, have you considered a white build? It will cost a bit more but just wanted to point it out as everything in the case will be a mix of blacks, greys and motherboard colours.
7800X3D - As the system is for gaming, the 7800X3D is the gaming chip. You pay for it, don't get me wrong, but the gains aren't insignificant.
RGB - It's a nice open looking case. Have you thought about RGB RAM etc to compliment the cooler and other RGB goodies?

Hey,

Thanks so much for the advice, that’s really helpful.

Couple of follow up questions.

If I was to switch to a black case do you have any suggestions?

How big is the difference between the 7800X3D and 7700? As if it is significant I might see if I can spend a bit more to get it.

Thanks again for the advice, I’m still a novice in terms of PCs and configurations so I really appreciate it!

If you want RGB then it's a fair shout as they don't stock the black 4000D RGB. If you're not fussed then the non-RGB selection would be fine.

There's quite a bit in it between the 7800X3D and the 7700 in gaming. In everything else they are quite close though. It depends how much you want to eek out of the performance and how much the difference in cash sways that :)
