Advice for a few upgrades

Hi guys, not been on here for a while but hoping to get some advice.

Purchased my rig from here ooooh must have been 4 years ago (probably longer) and looking to do a few upgrades, most likely gpu & ram so any advice would be great.

Heres my specs

MB: P6X58D PREMIUM
GPU: RADEON HD 5850
RAM: CORSAIR 6GB DDR3
PR: INTEL i7 930

Use my pc mainly for gaming but i'm not looking to run the latest games on the highest settings or anything, but hoping for a relatively big increase in my capabilities.

Hope someone can help, I know my way around a pc but i'm no genius

for gaming 6Gb should still be plenty.

The GPU could be struggling a bit now, something the a r9 270x or 7870 would be a good upgrade as they are both approx. twice the speed of the 5850.
