Advice Needed Please

Hi All

Looking to get a PC for work, basic browser based stuff and excel use so nothing intensive, and i'd like to be able to play warzone on it, preferably getting as much fps as possible, 1440 would be awesome but 1080 is fine.

I was looking at the PCS STORM 60 - https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers-for-next-day-delivery/1352/ and wondered if that was good enough?

I haven't bought the monitor yet and am looking at the AOC Q27G2U/BK Quad HD 27" but open to suggestions and possible cheaper options.

As for budget the Storm being £980 is an attractive price but I could go a few hundred more.

Thanks for any advice!

Cheers

£980 is ex VAT, are you looking at a business expense VAT free?

If it's not needed immediately, then I'd wait until the new AMD CPUs and Nvidia GPUs come out in a month or two, as you'll likely get better value/performance for your money...or alternatively be able to get higher level one-generation-older components for less cash!

Says £816.67 ex VAT or £980.00 inc. VAT when I click the link o_O

Hi Tony
Looking through the forum I saw this info
I kinda need it asap as I’m setting up my home office this week

When the new stuff comes out is their likely to be a high demand and wait time?

Cool, so best option is wait a month or two to get more for my money but if I can’t, basically working off my old laptop that keeps crashing, is the storm a viable option? Or is there possibly a better build for the same or slightly higher price?

The pre builds tend to limit upgradeability on things like the PSU, case, motherboard etc so you'll find you're paying even more as the lifetime of it will be shortened.

I would always suggest getting a custom build, it will be along the same lines but with substantially more solid platforms which will suit any upgrades going forwards.

Actually I've just tried speccing one up, and I can't get anywhere near that £1000 mark that the PCS Storm is coming to, with an RTX 3060 that really is an incredible deal at the budget side, even if it is an 11th gen processor and 550W PSU.

I reverse my judgement, I'd go with that one, and good spot.

I think il be buying that one then

Do you know if 1440p gaming is possible at 120fps? Just wondering if I could go with a cheaper monitor

Normally I'd say absolutely not, but I mean as long as you're willing to dial down some more extreme settings, you could certainly achieve that I think, certainly on older titles, not on current AAA titles obviously.

There's quite a good thread on Reddit that goes into it:
Personally, for optimal pairing I'd say it's really the 3060ti that is the minimum for 1440p gaming generally.

I’m getting tempted to spend some more on a better machine

Do you have a rough idea How much I’d be looking at for a system with the 3060ti?

And do you have an affiliate link for pcs?
