Advice on current build please

I currently have a build including a 4090 gpu on going, currently at the testing phase. I was sent a photo of the build and have to say, it took a long time to identify exactly what kind of gpu it is. I've eventually found out that it is a Zotac 4090 OEM graphics card! I'll be honest, I was expecting, having spent £3500 on a pc, (a massive part being on the gpu) that it would at least contain products which are advertised by the manufacturers! Nowhere on PCS's site does it say they are using these (OEM) products! Has anybody received one of these gpu's on their build and, if so, any feedback/are they ok? The whole process was great up to now but this has left me unsettled. Thinking of requesting a swap or even cancelling unless they change it but concerned I may have run out of time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

If you search their warranty terms: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/terms/

7.3If you order a dedicated graphics card and the AIB (add-in-board) manufacturer name is not specified in the product description or on the final invoice, then you will receive a graphics card that meets the specification of the model/version stated. If the graphics card is exchanged under the warranty, then we will supply a graphics card that meets or exceeds the specification of the model/version stated. This model may be from a different AIB manufacturer and as a result the actual performance may be slightly higher or lower than the original model.

They do sometimes use OEM GPU's, PCS are in fact an OEM supplier, so they often don't have retail units.

But any GPU is the same in terms of the actual GPU (the GPU simply being the silicon chip), it's just the cooler, power configuration and backplate that are different amongst board partners.

They tend to supply whatever's currently in stock, it may be they don't have any retail cards currently in that model, but worth asking anyway to see.

Thanks for that. I'm only guessing that it's a zotac based on one other thread with a photo of this card. (It was returned!) Does this mean pcs supply alot of these? I wouldn't even know who produces/makes them? I'll give them a call Monday I suppose but feel disappointed ☹️

PCS tends to stock Zotac and Palit for Nvidia GPU's, they're both very reputable brands, the Zotac Amp Extreme models are often heralded as the best of the generation, it happened on 3000 series and 2000 series.

This will be one of the Zotac Amp Extreme, Trinity OC or Trinity model, just the OEM version which basically means less bling, so more of a basic shroud and sometimes no RGB

But they're all very good cards. OEM is exactly the same card, just without the frills.

One thing to note as well is that you probably missed it does actually say the branding on the configurator page. Further down the list are the performanace Asus cards but you will pay a lot more for those:

So, is it actually made by zotac or are the parts farmed out to another company to build. If so, why do they even bother? Sorry if I'm not quite getting it but my concern is different warranty and I don't particularly want a cheaper version if that's the case

There was an option for Asus Tuf gaming OC stipulated but they were out of stock. My choice only stipulated Geforce RTX 4090
My current card is a zotac 2070s and it's been great but its not OEM.
Is yours OEM or an actual original Zotac?

OEM parts are exactly the same cards as retail, just without the bling. So systems like Alienwares and other branded systems all use OEM parts. There's no difference to their retail cards aside from looks.

It's exactly the same card as one of their retails cards just a more basic shroud, but the cooling is the same as the retail model.

Your warranty isn't changed by it being retail.

Second this! I've had my Zotac 3080 two years now. No problems at all
...but is it an original retail version which I'm guessing you expected to receive when ordered or is it an OEM version like the one they have put into my build at present?

Mine was the standard version. No RGB etc. I guess it depends if you want the RGB or not. To be honest I didn't know there was a difference but I haven't had any issues with the GPU. I have had to have my PSU replaced and that was done at ease with at no cost.

I must admit, I've had my zotac 2070s from PCS for 4 years and not had any bother with it. I'm just not 100% sure about the oem side of things with cheaper shroud etc to save cost. I guess I was as expecting a brand new, out of the box gpu as shown on most websites so to speak. I'm going to speak tomorrow morning to see if I can sort something 👍

Yeah I would call them and see what their views are. There is always so much conflicting information online. I have never heard of OEM until I read your post so I'm not much help here. I don't know if they will let you choose another make / type of card though. Lets us know what they say.

Missed out by 24hrs by the time I worked out exactly what the gpu was! ☹️

Have you received your pc? Did you get much out of them when you spoke to them?
I'm thinking about purchasing a PC from PCS with a 4080. Looking at +£280 for the ASUS model.

Hi, the OEM version will perform and function exactly like the retail one minus the box and booklet you get with retail, I have been very impressed with the OEM version of the card you have and it doe's seem to be very of good quality, not had many issues if any with them as far as I know.

Cards are manufactured by Zotac themselves and not by any other company, they just don't have the branding.
