Hi
I'm trying to make my first build but i honestly know very little about hardware.

The desktop PC i'm building should be able to run different 3D moddeling software like Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks ect. and be able perform rendering and maybe some video editing.

I'm very interested in hearing Your opinion:

The case you chosen is unsuitable for a gaming rig since it offers poor cooling. You may want to consider a faster secondary drive like the caviar black

Ah OK thanks, but as mentioned im using it for 3D-modelling and renderering ect, not gaming - is it still nessesary with a different case? And if so wich one?

And as for the faster secondary drive - what does this mean exactly? I cant find anything called caviar black. is it the M.2 SSD Drive i need to replace?

Im totally new to this so any advice/explanation is welcome :)

It is the WD Black, used to be called the Caviar Black. It is still a 7200rpm drive but is fast and very reliable and the preferred HDD of most on here. With the m2 SSD for the OS and main progs and the WD for storage you will have a nice set up. As for the case, modelling/rendering is pretty intensive so a well cooled case would be a good idea. I am not sure about the price difference but have you considered the i7 6700, it is the newest generation CPU, I hate the phrase future proofing as it is not really possible but a newer CPU, instead of a fourth generation, would be worth considering. The i7 4790 is still good though.

Hi Stephen. Thanks for the explanation - I really apreciate it! As I understand I should
1) replace the "1st hard disk" which is now 1Tb 3,5" SATA-III 7200RPM with the corresopnding WD black.
2) Change the case so to one with more cooling.

As for the CPU it doesn't seem to be possible to choose the i7 6700. There is the i7-4790 4.0GHz though - would that help?

With the two changes that gives me the following - would this work? Concerning the price I have probably reached the maximum.

That looks OK. The other CPU will run faster but not sure how much benefit you would get. You would to reconfigure from another part of the site to get the new CPUs.

This is a build based on yours but with the sixth gen CPU.
