AMD make both CPU's and GPU's you can pair an intel or AMD CPU with an Nvidia GPU. In all honesty it comes down to your budget as neither company makes better quality components just better performance or better price to performance components.

So just to clarify, do you want an AMD system or any CPU and an NVidia GPU?

If you can stretch a little beyond £1000 it would let you aim for a build based around an i7 7700k, fast RAM, and a GTX 1060.

The i7 can be a lot more powerful than an i5 in some titles, and may help future-proof the PC by avoiding bottlenecking future GPU upgrades and offering better performance in titles that are more CPU-intensive. e.g.

The motherboard also has 2 additional slots for RAM so you should be able to just add more in the future if you want 16gb. The 450W PSU should give you a fair range of choices for GPU upgrades in the future, by virtue of the additional wattage and the additional power connector for GPUs that it has. The case should also support a reasonable range of GPU upgrades.
