Advice on reducing the price on this build

First of all, I pinched this build off another thread (credit: SCOTT) so I know it works. However I would like to bring the price down to £2000-£2400.
I'll be using the PC strictly for gaming, so what I'm really asking is what is the fastest PC I can get for £2000-£2400.

You can drop to 16gb ram and change the strix to TUF. Or alternatively you can just aim for 1440p 144hz for games like cod and get a 3070

In terms of gaming, the difference between them isn’t dramatic, as the GPU is the main part and is the same in both builds.

The main difference is the storage for your games and whether they are on an SSD or HDD. SSD is faster but more expensive.

I should point out I have no problem removing/moving/adding/deleting games off the SSD as I need. I'm not planning or storing loads at a time.

There are compromises in luxury with it. The storage is the main aspect that is detrimental.

For 4k gaming you could fit a cigarette paper between the 5600X and the 5950X so there isn't much in the way of benefits by opting higher. There are other uses for more cores though, and there may be changes on the horizon..... but these remain to be seen. Right now the 5600X and the 5800X (or above) are going to perform nigh on identical. Same goes for the motherboard, it goes hand in hand with the CPU but doesn't offer you any gaming advantage.

3600Mhz with 2x16GB leaves space for upgrade if required (highly unlikely). 4x8GB tends to perform a bit better but there have been stability issues noted with filling all slots so I've been selecting 2x16 lately.

Having a separate drive just for games, with fast loads, would be my preference personally. Me being me though, if limited by the budget, I would choose the more powerful base rather than the more powerful GPU. The GPU is the easiest, and often the first thing, to upgrade. With that in mind, having a solid system around it makes more sense.

Okay, based on the fact I have no idea what I'm doing. I have made these amendments.

I would be wary of increasing the primary drive to 1TB. The reason I say this is that any time you need to re-format or have any issues that require the drive to be wiped you will lose 1TB of "stuff" rather than 500GB. The other problem I see is that you will tend to want to fill the drive if you use it for games, if you had a separate drive for games you would fill it..... and keep your primary drive under the 50% performance threshold.

With a budget in mind, I would stick with the 500GB 980 Pro as the primary for windows, and opt for a 1TB M2 PCS drive for games.

Agree with Scott. If I was spending money on extra storage space would do his way and also get an external drive for back up, although not needed if you have a download option such as Steam but for personal data is always handy to have it backed up.

Its probably not perfect, but this is what I've gone for. Can always chuck more storage in if I need.
