The pc will be in the same back room as a TV so I want to keep the noise down. It'll be used by all the family for MS office/internet, Photoshop, iplayer, oldish games (online TF2 & Half life2, Flight Sim X) and some newer games (Batman Arkham asylum, Deathly Hallows). I'm hoping not to have to bother with upgrades for a few years and for the machine to last at least 7 years.
Any thoughts?

Change the RAM to 1333mhz because you won't see any difference in performance unless you overclock and the soundcard seems unnecessary for what you're wanting to do with it. With the money saved from those changes I'd upgrade the motherboard to the next one down which supports USB3.0 and SATA6.0GB/S for a bit of future proofing.

Great spec, very well balanced, but consider Phoenix's advice especially on the motherboard as this may be beneficial to you and make your PC more future-proof. :)

Thanks guys, good points about the usb3/sata6 on the motherboard & the 1333 RAM; I'll be taking your advice on those.

Still unsure about dropping down to audigy se for the soundcard; I forgot to mention that one of the kids has an electronic keyboard he sometimes hooked up to the (currently gubbed) old PC via usb; He did say he'd appreciate some more recording etc options on a better card.
