Am I getting fooled / scammed?

Hi everyone.

Around a month ago I made a thread about my laptop keyboard stop working almost completely and after reading the comments I decided to order the keyboard from the website.

I work with the laptop so I picked fast shipping. 2 weeks later I was still waiting for any news about my order.
I then decided to send an email and they told me they don't have the keyboard anymore and i should ask for a refund (why didn't they refund me already??) and then i got my money back.

After 1 day they told me the keyboard was again available for shipping and I ordered it again. Guess the result? 2 weeks later I'm here sending an email asking for the same info and receivng a response telling me exactly the same thing "we ran out of the piece you need". They took my money knowing very well they didn't have the keyboard. What's going on?!

If anyone is able to find a replacement for it I would be very glad as I couldn't find anything for it. I will provide the back of my laptop pic in here.

If it's an older model there's a good chance they don't store a lot of parts. It's possible that one was available and was purchased at the same time. It's also possibly a stocking error or something like that.

Have you searched on google for PC70DR keyboard? I seen a few options there that looked hopeful.

Both times it has always shown more than 20 or 30 keyboards for my laptop on their inventory (photo below taken right now).
It's not that old I guess. I bought it less than 3 years ago.

I'm not able to find the keyboard for the PC70DR with a non US layout.

I'm lost and I get no help from PCspecialist. They just took my money 2 times without sending anything.

I would personally call up rather than going by email and speak to someone and query it. That's a pretty major error if it is incorrect and if it was, why haven't they corrected the stock count?

What address did you email by the way?

For the first order I sent an email to "[email protected]"
For the second order I did send a message right from the website.

As I mentioned both times they replied they said basically the same thing "we do not have it in stock".

What is truly upsetting is the fact that after my first refund I got messaged the day next with the text "we have your keyboard on stock" and they sent me a new order to pay which I paid.

Today again when i asked for info about my order they said "we do not have it in stock".

If I'm not getting fooled or scammed then I don't know. I guess I gotta call them directly and if they don't have this piece in stock I will be without my laptop for an unknown amount of time.

I would give them a call personally.

It's not a scam, I can only think the Italian rep perhaps is getting wires crossed, but a phone call will clear it up. They're open until 8pm UK time.

You can still use an external keyboard in the meantime to see you through.

Just additionally, the only difference between a US layout and UK is the " and @ keys are swapped, if you've ever used a Mac, that uses a US layout by default. It's very easy to workaround.

As a test you can change the keyboard layout in windows settings to US just to test it and you'll see what I mean.

I feel for you, it must be very frustrating, but you're not being scammed. Miscommunication happens and people make mistakes. I appreciate that from your end it looks as though you're being mucked about but PCS are not a bunch of scammers. Call the UK and stay calm. If you explain what's happened I am sure that they will do all they can to assist you. It's always better to call, even in this age of emails and chats. You can't beat talking to someone directly.

What a coincidence. I have the same laptop (PC70DR) and my S key stopped working couple days ago.
Website says there is 20+ spare keyboards in stock but I sent them email before ordering at it said they're 'blank' which means - no letters on caps...
I had a reply within a day that they don't have spares. They tried to help to see if not working key can be repaired and eventually sent me model numbers for keyboards to look online.

Ultimately I'm about to order one from AliExpress - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...bd2cc414e7080da9ebdc05a2d09&afSmartRedirect=y

If you want to do the same then make sure you have right type (UK/UK etc) and whether you want backlit or not.

FYI, AliExpress search is not great so I'd suggest using google search if you don't see what you want. Just type 'aliexpress clevo pc70dr keyboard' and add what you need (backlit uk etc.)

Hopefully it helps.

In case anyone finds it useful - it took me few days to agree which keyboard I need with AliExpress seller, he then sent it and it arrived today - all good and works fine ;)
Also, an interesting thing - I ordered without backlit strip and just attached one from the old keyboard as it worked fine.
So I'm back in the game for £37 and couple weeks wait.
