AMD gaming build advice

Hi all,

After the great advice a couple of months ago for my wifes PC (she's over the moon with it), I'm back again for advice for my own build.

No peripherals are required as I currently have a 3 monitor setup with the AOC Q27G2S(165hz) monitor being central.

This PC is purely for gaming only, I play anything from Path of Exile, World of Warcraft to Escape from Tarkov etc etc.

Budget is £2250 though the build I've got below does come in under that.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Wiggled things around and propped some areas up. Build will pair well with the monitor.

You could save a little on the GPU but it's a fair fit. It's worth noting that the 4070 is the same price, if you fancied something more modern. They trade blows at 1440p anyway so not a lot in it.

Thanks for the quick update.
I've usually been team Intell/Nvidia and currently have a 1070ti with an i7 7700k , thought I'd try a full AMD this time, so other than being newer, are there any additonal benefits for taking the 4070?

Honestly although Nvidia are determined to be as crappy and shady as they possibly can and although AMD have made massive strides in the drivers and support Nvidia still offer a more solid product but you pay an absolute premium for it

I go Nvidia when it makes sense but AMD are a real viable option more so than ever. The performance gains on last gen cards with the newer drivers is nothing short of incredible

Build @Scott suggested but with the 4070 (had to change the ram as well, no stock) - https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am5-pc/ZnFgdjrP3c/
yeah honestly mate the build in this link I don't like

I don't see a point in buying the best CPU that's currently available and then cutting the legs out from under it by not getting appropriate RAM. I genuinely would not accept anything less than 6000Mhz with this CPU. If you're going to buy the best gaming CPU on the market then you want it to perform like the best gaming CPU on the market. Buying slower RAM will hamper it

I also really don't like a 750W PSU with a 4070. It feels too borderline for me when the cost for an upgrade to the 850W is soo low. I'd personally go for 1000W though

The case is simply a hard no, spending £2K on a system to cheap out on the thing that's going to house these components for potentially the next 10 years doesn't make sense to me. A good case not only looks good but promotes good airflow and allows you to keep the parts cooler easier which will extend their life

@Steveyg Cheers for the help, looks like the 6000Mhz is available again so will change to that, will also up to 1000W ps. Can you recomend a case?
Also, with the changes above, is the iCue build worth the free peripherals?

The case, RAM and PSU were all appropriately selected in the build I suggested. The link at the bottom of the build would take you straight in :)

@Scott So it does, my bad, think i butchered it to take the 4070 over the 6950 which meant i changed to a smaller case and a smaller PSU.

Final non promo build - https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am5-pc/9cRvR7wbHY/
Final iCue promo build - https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-icue/QjSjQPZuZz/

The only real difference in the builds above is the storage, the extra £59 cost seems worth is for the bundle.
I'd remove Norton and you can probably get the prices to the exact same by changing the storage set up of the iCue promo build to match the other build. Free stuff is free stuff

Indeed, i can always add more storage later if needed.
Thats the PC ordered, thanks to both of you for the help given.
