My son is an avid gamer, mostly COD, fortnight, roblox.

Can anyone please tell me if this looks like it will be ok? I was hoping to spend around the 800-900 mark but can go a fraction higher if needed.
Monitor needed but everything else we got.

Appreciate any help. I defo want ryzen5 and 16gb ram but aside from that it's all pretty much google-educated guesses!

Thank you

Whilst I can't really help much with the spec I will say that 32GB RAM is more than likely overkill, 16GB will more than likely be enough, and really a more powerful graphics card would be needed, but I'm sure some of the others will come in with suggestions.

One thing I will say though is that you have missed the cut off date for Christmas delivery (said cutoff date was 10 days ago) unless you did order before then and just wanted some thoughts on it, I mention this because you say its a Christmas present

As @Rakk said above, unfortunately this is unlikely to be built before Christmas.
I tried to cut it down as much as possible, but this is really as cheap as I could make it while still being viable. The GPU upgrade is necessary to hit the performance of current gaming titles. The power supply is a step up but I wouldn't trust a build with less than a TXm tier of PSU.
Ultimately this build is a bit over budget but contains higher quality components than you might find from a pre-built PC online and you always have to keep the 'buy cheap, buy twice' idiom in mind.

This is fantastic thank you! Im happy paying the bit extra to make sure its gonna run well.
Do you mind me asking....he's wanting to stream his games (no webcam needed) is this going to viable too?

I love how helpful you all are, thank you so very much! Im in no great rush for it, next year will be fine for delivery as long as I can say I bought ut! Haha!

Also.....possibly a headset? May aswell shove another 60 quid or so on there. Sorry my thoughts and replies are so scattered

I would recommend trying to stretch your budget by getting the Ryzen 5 5600X just to keep with the speed of improving games but I 3000 series will do just fine aswell.

The graphics card has NVENC built into it. This means that it can encode data for streaming. You might need to turn the game settings down a bit to compensate though!

With headsets, I'm afraid I can't really help you as I'm pretty clueless. Googling is a solid bet here, but try and find tech review sites as opposed to reviews on sites like Amazon. :)

As @V2Krool has stated, moving up to the ryzen 5 5600x means that you have the newest generation of CPU processor (came out last month) and it does have big performance gains over the previous generation. Ultimately, it comes down to how far you can stretch the budget. The 3600 CPU that you've currently chosen is arguably the best bang-for-your-buck CPU on the market.

Darn! :poop:
That really is a bother. This is the part where I either make your son's Xmas or I break your wallet. :ROFLMAO:
I would not advise scaling down the GPU, the older graphics cards are not up to scratch. So that leaves us with scaling up. The next stage up would be the 1660 series but they are all sold out...
So we would be looking at the 2060. This card is a lot more powerful than the 1650 so we should really look at upgrading the monitor as well. I am so sorry as we are really wrecking the budget now. The 2060 is about £180 more than the 1650, and you're looking at spending another £100 on a 1080p 144hz monitor to pair with it. I'm really sorry it's panned out like this.

Offfff now we getting pricey! He's a lovely son but not that lovely! 🤣 I may upgrade to the newer ryzen and just wait until graphics card is back in stock hahah! Or should I just go for it. Oh what a decision! Gonna have a look at monthly costs.....uh-oh!

Definitely spend more of getting the rest right as the better GPUs can come later, they update the quickest. And as has been said the 3600 is pound for pound the gaming king of 2020. The 5600 will be the same for 2021- probably - and will last 5-7 years easy. The 2060 doesn't feel a good buy value wise as we move into 2021 but will do a great job

Edit:. Hmm the lack of GPUs is an issue. Personally I think the best decision is to hold fire but that's not always possible.
Or get a GPU second hand.
CEX is actually a pretty good place to look online as they give a warranty.

Having already missed the Xmas window, I would advocate waiting for the 1650 to come back into stock. As Skew has said the GPU has the shortest lifespan in terms of relevancy, the 2060 is only an option if you want to order today.

A headset I would recommend would be the HyperX Cloud Alpha for £80 but the HyperX Cloud Stinger is a great option aswell for just £40.

THANK YOU! I Shall wait! Won't lie, partially considering buying without the card and buying it seperate and learning how to do it myself....! But that's impatience talking!

May I ask another....what is the 1st m.2 ssd drive you selected? Its asking about whether I want os installed on ssd or hard drive!? I have no idea what this is, assume there's a reason you added it! :) sorry for the ridiculous amount of questions...wanna get it right, printed out and then back to buy as soon as that card is in stock!

The GPU is the easiest part to add yourself. It's a great way of introducing yourself to the inside of a PC.. but be warned , it's a path that leads to madness....
A month ago I spent a few hours replacing a case, changing CPU, adding a new cooler and PSU unit and I'm just a middle aged accountant.. lol

Always tempting to buy, but worth it to wait it out for the right products to become available.
So the m.2 SSD is the latest generation of SSD drives, so it's nice and zippy. The OS gets installed on there by default, it will mean the computer boots up nice and quickly. Then you also have a 1TB hard drive for general storage.
