Hi all.
Finally making the leap into a new pc. I have a Palit NE51060015J9-1060D NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card 113390 which I installed late 2018 into my existing desktop.
I just need to know if I should stick with this card and purchase everything else new? I have a budget of around 1k.

Can anyone suggest a decent rig that would be capable of running things like Apex legends, Warzone, Cityies Skylines and that sort of thing?

Not fussed about RGB lights or VR just a solid performer that's good for general gaming.

My monitor is a BenQ GL2450H.

Would really welcome any advice.

Many thanks

Stuart.

Depends really, personally as you have the 1060 I would fit that to whatever system you buy. The reason behind this is because GeForce are releasing (or rumored too) their 3000 series GPU's in the next couple of months.

That way you can buy the rest of your setup and then decide if the new cards are within your budget/worth the upgrade for your needs. Whatever you decide, post up your specs so that the team can have a look and tweak.

Palit cards are the same ones that PCS fit, unless you pay extra for a branded one(although the performance offset is debatable, you are paying for the name and aesthetics).

There's some talk of a possible price drop of the 2000 series when the new cards release, but as you've pointed out the cards seem to hold their value.

Can you add the url from your ordering page so that we can go in and tweak. Your 1k budget, is that to include a monitor? What resolution are you looking for, 1080, 1440 or 4k?

I am clueless about cases, so will need one of the others to advise.

Things I would change- you could do with a SSD as your boot drive, will massively improve performance. Psu, I would increase the load capacity, you don't need a separate sound card, remove Bullguard as its bloatware. I'd up your warranty too.

What's your plans ref the old machine? You might be able to transfer your Windows onto the new one thus leaving more money in the pot for other shiny stuff

Is this what you need?

I'm not savvy enough to loot from my old pc, removing the graphics card is about my level ;)

With regards to resolution, I really don't know, I would like a bigger monitor but not if it's to the graphics detriment.

I've had a quick look, I'd wait for @Scott, @SpyderTracks or @Nursemorph to give this a once over. You need to decide which monitor you want so that they can advise if your current graphics card would be OK till you upgrade that. The above setup does offer some future upgrade path if required, ideally I would put a better psu in but think that puts the build over 1k

Windows is pretty simple to transfer over apparently

If your current GPU is running things fine currently, then I'd stick with that until you upgrade your monitor, at which point you can upgrade the GPU at the same time (by which time the new GPUs will, hopefully, have been released.

Have revised the spec from above slightly:

Have removed the cooler as the 3600 level chips don't need an extra cooler. Have changed the SSD for a quicker M2 drive and upped the storage to get it closer to your initial storage level
Wasn't sure ref the coolers on the xt's mate, hence copying you in

Well, with your current graphics card (the 1060) you are probably looking at 1080p 144Hz (I believe the 1060 is a 1080p card)

If you are planning to upgrade the GPU, then a 1440p 144Hz monitor would work perfectly. It would just need a 2070 Super GPU (or the equivalent of it when the new GPUs are released)

Thanks Nurse
