Any reason why I cannot select "64GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (2x32GB)"?

Cannot for the life of me - figure out why in the (?) pop-out "64GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (2x32GB)" is listed as a possibility. Whereas the drop-down only allows "32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (1x32GB)"?

The motherboard is dual-channel and therefore, supports to sticks of RAM and recommends having a matched pair.

Am I missing something? Or is this a configuration bug or stock issue?

I’m not sure, you’d have to speak to PCS directly and get the answer from the horse’s mouth.

But you could order with just a single stick of 4GB 2666MHz RAM and source memory of your own preferred size and frequency to install upon arrival.

Do you actually need 64GB of memory, though? I’m curious as to the system uses that would require that quantity.

Thanks for your reply & sorry for the late reply - just got back from an extended business trip with v.limited Internet access.

I will ask PCS directly. I notice that the restriction is still in place today. I can only assume it might be something to do with stock levels?

I currently have an 5ish year-old Intel Skull Canyon with 32GB running Linux and I very often push into swap. Under normal workloads it seems to be fine. But if I try to work with some R datasets - I can hit the kernel OOM killer. 64GB would be a nice to have - it isn't essential but 32GB is what I have now.

Like I said, I’m really not sure. The forum is not staffed, it’s populated by a group of volunteers and enthusiasts. The PCS team only drop in occasionally to oversee things.

It’s purely conjecture on my part but it could be down to stability issues regarding the memory and the processor when they’re at full chat in the motherboard of choice. There was a period where some higher frequency RAM was nixed on certain systems for those reasons.

If you do reach out to PCS and get a response, please do update this thread with their reply. It’d be helpful for all concerned to have that knowledge available 🙂👍

I can't actually see a 2x32GB kit anywhere on PCS. Perhaps I'm missing it, but it wouldn't surprise me if PCS doesn't actually stock it currently.
