Any suggestions or help on my first PC build would be great.

Working on a PC budget under £1000, looking to use it for casual gaming on 1080p, is there anything I need to tweak...? Thanks

(I was originally looking to get the Fractal North Black, however I noticed they didn't have it and that I would have to send it in - anyone know how easy it is to do that?)

You simply change the delivery address of your case to the one PCS will supply on the 'send in your own case' option.

It is however up to you to ensure the components fit the case...so I'd use the white Fractal North as your base to ensure everything fits, and then change it to 'send in your own case'.

Okay, fairly easy then, thanks.

I reckon you can do way better. The 5500 is a terrible chip: way worse than the 5600. The motherboard isn't great. The power supply isn't great. And the 4060 offers only slightly better performance than the 6650 XT for way more money. You'd be much better off with that card and spending the savings on the rest of the system. That will get you a stronger PC that can be happy upgraded into a really strong one if you choose.

I was trying to do something with current gen AMD...but can't sensibly get it anywhere near £1000 (without using a budget MB & PSU, slower RAM, small SSD, etc.).

I did notice that the 'special offer' RX6700 10GB is more expensive than the non-special-offer RX6700XT 12GB - but both would push the sck451's build above to the £990 range.

Wow... thank you so much. I noticed you've chosen a 750W psu, whereas when I proceed with the configuration, it recommends a 550W psu. Is there an advantage having a more powerful psu?

It’s not recommending a 550w, it’s just saying that’s the minimum you could get away with, but you’d never configure the minimum, you always want breathing space and space to accommodate upgrades

Just a quick question, for the build sck451 suggested above, will it work with a 1440p monitor, 27inch at 165Hz (instead of 1080p, 240hz 27in monitor)? Will there be a significant decline in FPS?

No, you’d need a higher GPU, your budget is heavily limiting what’s possible. Even at 1080p with that card you’d be looking around 130 - 150fps and that’s not accounting for new games which are far more demanding.

Broadly speaking you can expect a change to 1440p to reduce your framerate by approximately 45%.
