What's it for?

What monitor are you pairing it with? What resolution and refresh rate, or make and model if you're unsure?

How much did the above come to and what's your max budget?

The PC is for gaming and an overall computer for school and work.

The monitor im thinking of buying is the ACER GN246HLBbid, 144hz, 1ms

Max budget would be around £2,000 including the monitor, and the PC comes to around 1,700

For a build of this budget you could/should be looking at 1440p 144hz with freesync or gsync

Intel's CPUs aren't a good buy at the moment. They're extremely expensive and are going obsolete very soon too. And these days, AMD's offerings are much closer in performance than in the past. Maybe 5% at 1440p. An AMD R5 would be a much better buy.

The WD Black is much faster and little more expensive.

The V200 might not have particularly good airflow. The Corsair 460X is a very good alternative.

The RTX 2070 is a difficult GPU to recommend. The RTX 2060 offers performance in a similar class, within 10-15%. The the 2070 is ~50% more expensive. While the 2070 isn't quite in the same league as the 2080 either.

The H60 cooler isn't very good value. It's expensive but not nearly as good as things like the H100x.

A TXm PSU would be more efficient and better quality.

Ive had a little play around with it and this comes to £1,912

If i choose a specific wireless card, will i still have an Ethernet port on the PC?

Is it worth choosing the RTX 2080 for games like fortnite and CSGO for example? Would i notice the difference if i get the 2060, and how far in the future do you think i will have to upgrade the 2080? - and 2060?

Don't bother with the R7 2700x - it's much more expensive than the R5 (£120+) but offers only fractionally better performance.

With Zen 2 CPUs coming out soon, and expected to be compatible with existing motherboards, the R7 doesn't count as futureproof either. Because if you do ever find yourself wishing for more CPU horsepower than the R5 has to offer, you'd probably want to replace it with a Zen 2 CPU anyway.

So there is some merit to a 2080 over a 2060, but a 2060 is still more than adequate.

A 2060 will generally play even the most demanding modern titles at 1440p on very high - ultra, usually ultra.

Buying a 2080 for vague futureproofing probably isn't the right play. It's over twice the price of a 2060, and a 2060 is more than adequate for now and the immediate future even maxing out settings in most titles.

By the time you'll want to upgrade your 2060, we'll most likely be a generation or two down the line, with new technologies, hopefully more competitive price points, and more mature ray tracing.

So only buy a 2080 if you really want that extra performance today. And it is a valid purchase for 1440p if you want to really push framerates in 1440p 144hz gaming.

For this budget range you really ought to be looking at 1440p 144hz with gsync ideally. Check the Dell S2716DG, though there are others out there ofc
