Short answer is yes, certainly for general gaming. Colours are excellent, and response time is fine. At the price point you're hard pressed to do better.
If you're really into fast paced hairtrigger shooters however, a 144hz monitor might be the way to go, though at 1080p I think that means a TN panel sadly.
