Approximate battery life on Genesis II machine

Hi,

I am currently looking at buying a Genesis II machine with the following specs and wondered how long I can expect the battery to last for light use like browsing the web (approximate to the nearest half hour is fine).

Enigma II
i3 350m
2gb ddr3 1333mhz
60GB OCZ SSD
1 gb Geforce graphics (as standard)
Bluetooth built in
Everything else is as default setting.

The specs are low but I like the idea of having a machine I can upgrade in the future as I hope the machine will be durable.

Also I was wondering if PC Specialist would be willing to install Linux Ubuntu as a dual boot for me.

Welcome to our forums :)

Unfortunately we do not currently install/support Linux at present, but our laptops work with Linux and a quick search of this forum will reveal previous customers who have chosen this path.

Can you confirm if the laptop you're looking at is the Enigma II or Genesis II?

The Enigma II:

1. With normal settings, it goes into hibernation when it is 5% left of the battery. We measured the battery life from 100% to 5% when it hibernated.
Idle (50% brightness, wlan and bluetooth on): 3h 40m

2. DVDrip on vlc (50% brightness, wlan and bluetooth off, headphones with 50% volume): 2h 40m

3. 1080p, x264, DTS-HD audio on Media Player Classic (same as above): 2h 10m

It is actually possible to watch a full 1080p movie with standard length.

We don't have any official stats for the Genesis II, although looking at the battery it's 4,400 mAH as opposed to 4,800 on the Enigma, so as a rough estimate take 10% off the above figures. Due to the nature of laptops, battery life and usage, we cannot guarantee a battery life so please take our figures as a guidance only. :)

Thank you!

The details of the battery is very useful as I was really looking for an estimate. My current PC is an HP and when it was new it had a startling 45mins of battery life at best. I wanted to make sure I would avoid the same mistake again.

Its the Enigma II, the one with the massive resolution, so sexy. Its a pity about Linux, but I understand the backup DVD for Windows will be included.

Thanks support :)
