Asus Xonar DG 5.1 Sound Card not working

My desktop arrived today 764777 (fantastic packaging, cable tidying, PC specialist manual, materials etc, really professional guys, nice one).

All working after I wiped the 2 drives and installed Windows 8.1 Update Pro x64.

Except the Asus Xonar DG 5.1 audio card. I followed the Xonar manual's instructions of disabling the onboard Realtek audio from the Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 3 and then trying to install the drivers in Windows, but 2 problems:
- the cd doesn't include Win 8 drivers
- the Win 8.1 x64 drivers from Asus website say the Xonar DG card can't be found

Sure enough in device manager there is no extra audio device and no unknown devices.

It is as if the card isn't plugged in or isn't drawing power.

Any ideas?

You could try to reseat the card, take it out and out it back in again (obviously with pc turned off). See if it appears, the downloaded driver is the one you will need to use.

Could this be the issue?

Could you guys check your QA records for order 764777 and see if the Xonar DG card was tested?

Cheers

James

If you want PCS to do something (which I'm guessing by this post you do :)) I'd recommend getting in touch with them directly either by telephone (preferably) or email as us mods don't work for PCS and although PCS admins do occasionally browse the forums they may not see this post.

Well, turns out the card wasn't seated in the slot. Doesn't fit properly. If the screw is undone then you can push the card in. But if you put the screw in place it pops the csrd out the slot.

Bent the card's back plate a little and solved it.
