Audible pop and laptop not charging - help!

A few minutes ago I was just doing some work on my rather nice Vortex II when I heard a loud popping sound - a bit like opening a tube of Pringles.

Everything is plugged in, but it is now not charging. This means I have about an hour and a half until I have no laptop (obviously once it's fixed I'll be fine).

What do you reckon might have happened? Hopefully it's just the power supply rather than something inside the laptop itself. Is there an easy way to find out? Or have people reported problems with the PSUs for these laptops?

I have a bad cold, so can't be sure, but I don't think it smells of anything.

Any help gratefully received.

It does look like the charger/psu has gone kaput, you could try replacing the plug top fuse, but make sure you use the same size fuse & not larger.

I had something like this happen to me on my own old laptop, popping noise and then it wouldn't charge.

For me found out it wasn't the cable, so didn't know where to go from there, as it seemed to be something inside the laptop that had gone. (Not a Vortex or anything from PCS btw)

Hopefully, it might just be the cable for you or something, be easier to fix :/

I already tested that by changing the power lead, but no dice.

I have now spoken to PC Specialist and had the PSU RMAd. Just need to wait a few days now...
