AutoCad 2009 & PS CS4

I am getting very confused building a laptop to run these programmes, any help would be much appreciated.
I have had loads of problems in the past with a certain high street PC store telling me that my current laptop (Toshiba P300-190) would run AutoCad & Photoshop CS4 side byside with no problems, unfortunately they lied as I have had nothing but trouble with it crashing & freezing up .

I have also been told not to bother with a quad core as I wont be using it to its full potential & it may even slow me down......

I have created a spec below & wonder if any of you kind chaps would give it a once over for me.

Hi, do you have the specs of your other laptop to hand, have you ruled out some sort of problem with the laptop itself?

On your proposed spec, whats your budget?

You might find you benefit from having a Dual core at a higher clock speed when it comes to laptops, as the quadcores then to have lower clockspeed. Unless you are willing to spend silly money. If your software requires 2.6Ghz for example it would be best to just get the 2.8Ghz dual core insted of the 2.0Ghz quadcore.

Even on a 1k budget, a laptop that will breeze through photoshop and autocad at the same time isn't going to happen.
