Awful experience /constant crashing/blue screens

Another few months, time for another rant on this awful companies awful products.

I couldn't give a toss about my language or what PC Specialist can offer me to remedy this situation because there customer service is always complete balls (especially when offering to fix my problem free of charge as a good will gesture then telling me unless I paid 100 quid they wouldn't fix it when they had it - yes that happened) so I'm looking for advice from other PCS customers or space to vent.

The last few months the internet performance has been beyond atrocious. I can barely load a low resolution YouTube video without waiting for it to buffer on a machine with a GtX 960 card and 16gb ram. From time to time it will glitch loudly while I listen to a song (sometimes for 5 second, other times for 30) then cut the internet connection out. The Adobe software I have runs like rubbish whereas before I sent it back to them it was a lot better than it has been recently.

Try and delete files from the hard drive and SSD? It will just tell to you to jog on and Free up barely any space. Want to listen to music through the headphone port? Nope just going to stop working completely within a few months of ownership - same story with 2 of the 3 USB ports.

This used to be an item I used everyday and looked forward to coming home to create designs on, but I can barely ever be arsed anymore because PCS and their dodgy repair quality/time has taken the biscuit.

Oh and the best one the last few days? - if I use and go away for about 10 minutes the whole screen will freeze, can't even ctrl alt tab or anything like that. Can't do anything except do a hard reboot.

I can't even play games like Football Manager because as soon as I load it the laptop just turns the power off. Instantly. Okay I think, I'll Uninstall it and reinstall it. Turns out I don't need to bother with that because it's done it for me. And I still can't play it.

And it's not as if the machine is getting too hot because I've been using a portable laptop fan which has worked very well in the past. Just now I lost 3 hours of client work because the machine shut down with absolutely no. Warning and at 100% battery in the middle of using it. Not even auto recovery could save the work I was doing, so thanks for that PCS.

This is without doubt the most frustrating experience of owning a laptop that I've ever heard. It's fairly old now at about 2 years, but I'd still rather shovel my eyes out of my skull with a rusty fork than give PC Specialists any more money for a repair service that won't even work and take far longer to complete than they promise to.

I bought this machine because every review I read said the laptop was money for value and PCS had excellent customer satisfaction. How naive was I?

I'm sure that's all very disappointing.

It's hard to suggest possible solutions without more detail of what you're tried and already ruled out. Though you might not be looking for that here.

Just a quick note that these forums are supposed to be family friendly so if you swear those swear words will be edited out and replaced with something a bit more suitable. I realise you're really annoyed (and that is an understatement) but swearing on the forums is not allowed - the rest of the post is still intact.

It's ok to be angry but before you start pointing fingers at PCS and blaming either (or both) PCS and your hardware it is essential that you remove any possibility that your problems are either software related or of your own making. All of the problems that you describe could be caused by missing or badly installed drivers, improper software configurations, incompatible devices, or simply a badly managed system. It is also true that your problems could be because of faulty hardware, but at the moment you really don't know whether your problems are hardware or software related and you absolutely must determine whether it's software or hardware before you start slinging mud around.

We would all be happy to help you determine what's causing your problems and I am absolutely certain that if you do eventually determine that your problems are hardware related, that PCS will fix it for you.

I can't be arsed to edit my post and make it 'family friendly' because guess what? I'm back again to complain about this product.

I didn't even mention last time how bad the battery is. 45 minutes it lasts. 45 minutes!
I literally had my laptop on for 30 seconds and it blue screened. I'm done.
And it's just shut down despite having about 30 percent of the battery left. Once again it's closed and ive lost all the work I was doing. Twice in 4 days. I can't be arsed to edit my post to take out 1 or 2 words just so someone will engage with me.

I'll do that when PCS do a competent job with something. Sorry ubuysa, but I know their game.

I already tried, you didn't reply.

No worries if you missed my post - like I said it helps to know more detail about what exactly you're tried, error messages such as what the blue screens say, event viewer errors, and so on.

If that's not something you're interested in and you also have no interest in going back to PCS for a remedy then I'd suggest you take independent advice on your options as a consumer: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/c...if-you-need-more-help-about-a-consumer-issue/

Constructive criticism and valid complaints are welcome on here, but only if they are expressed in a reasonable manner.

I went to great pains to point out in my earlier post that the problems you are complaining about could well be (and probably are) software related or indeed caused by your poor management/use of the computer. Your rants about PCS and the hardware cannot be taken seriously until you have eliminated software and user miss-operation as the likely causes.

Your aggressive style of posting impresses nobody and makes it far less likely that people will want to help you resolve your problems. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

I've got issues with my laptop now... It keeps showing asterisks instead of letters on this thread???

Agreed. I can understand frustration but when people start down that route (on a forum where PCS have almost zero involvement and it's basically volunteers) I disengage.

Clearly the OP's mind has been made up and they want to rant and vent so I'm just gonna let them get on with it.

If I was a PCS support employee, one thing I would ask the OP is whether he/she has ever successfully used a computer before this one. Some of the stuff mentioned in the posts makes absolutely no sense.
Luckily, I'm not a PCS support employee, just another happy PCS customer, waiting for my second order.

I just saw this, and thought I would try and help narrow down the issues.
I would like you to look at 2 things for us initially.

First can you try powering on the laptop without the battery inserted, just using the mains adapter and tell us if the machine still powers off randomly.

Secondly, can you press CTRL+ALT+DEL - Get into task manager in windows 10, press more details if shown, click the performance tab, and tell us the Uptime of this machine.

This will start to help us eliminate a battery failure, and general windows 10 software quirks.

Not sure the OP is interested in any help.

I agree. They are at the "just want to rant" stage.

Problem is - it's the wrong audience, as others have pointed out.

Agreed, which is a shame because it does seem to me that his most likely problems are going to be software/config/missoperation related and our collective experience could probably help him.

I've just read over the OP's history of threads dating back to late 2015 all about this laptop. In each instance, forum members have offered advice but he's either carried on ranting or just stopped replying. As ubuysa says, the headphone jack issue, low framerates etc etc all appear to be software related which we could no doubt diagnose and fix, but you can't help someone who doesn't want help. All he has done is moan, never looked for a solution to his issues.
