base clock speed vs turbo boost speed

hi all got a q whats better for gaming higher base clock or turbo boost clock speed? googled it but can't find a definitive answer

thanks
It's a few things:

High frequencies all round, so high base clock, higher boost

But that means nothing if it's poor IPC (instructions per clock).

Intel haven't improved their IPC for 5 years. But have higher clocks.

AMD have a much much higher IPC, but lower overall clocks. Currently, as of the upcoming release of the XT chips in a few weeks that's likely to be invalid as they're much higher clocks.

Again though, this all depends on what resolution you're playing at and what refresh rate. For anthing other than 1080p 240Hz and above, CPU isn't particularly a factor because the higher the resolution, the more power is shifted to the GPU, so when you get to 4k, you'll find that anything from a 3300x up to a 10900k will perform almost exactly the same.

At high refresh 1080p, the current winner is intel with the 10900k, but even then it's by such a small factor that it's really only of importance to competitive players. Below 240Hz on 1080p, again, it's really the screen that's going to be the bottleneck on a properly designed system.

i have a i9-9940X (3.3GHz) 19.25MB Cache at mo was thinking about swoping it too a Intel® Core™ i9-10900X as it's a 3.7GHZ ?
