Best cable to connect desktop to monitor...

Seems to be conflicting advice online about this. I have an Asus VG248QE and the PC Specialist Vanquish 270X. Currently have it connected via HDMI and looks great but I've heard you get a better frame rate through display port/DVI. Does anyone have a view on this?

Yes, its incorrect. You will NOT get a better framerate using a different digital cable.

The framerate you will get is determined by the graphics card itself, not the cable.

Article here on different ports... there may be some reference to the capabilities of ports on tv's and cheaper monitors not being up to par and therefor unable to produce anything over 30fps, but your monitor will be fine.

I think you can have higher resolutions over display port. Anyone know if that's right?

You can display higher resolutions at higher refresh rates with a display port cable but that only matters at 4K really (at least at the minute).
