for an extra £5 you can get 1 year collect and return (instead of 1 month) which personally I think is a great investment, just something to consider, appart from that setup looks very good for the price

Hi & welcome to the forums.

As the guys above say, the specification looks great! However, is there are specific requirement for the two HDDs in RAID? Also, the Corsair TX650 is the minimum PSU I would recommend for the 5870, if possible I would try to upgrade to the Corsair TX850, this will also be a bonus to have should you decide to add an extra Graphics Card in the future!

Good point on the collect and return - I too hadnt spotted that option!
Defo swap power supply to an 850 if the 650 is min spec - good pointer there.
Theres no specific requirement for 2 HDD in raid other speed i.e. 2 in raid will im guessing be faster data transfer than a single (I dont have the pennies for a SSD before you say!). Will a single (non raptor) HDD bottleneck this kind of spec at all? If not I'll ditch the twinn hdd in raid and go for a big single.

No, it won't cause a bottle neck, and RAID 0 doesn't add significant performance. If you're after an OS that boots up and runs super fast, a 40GB Intel SSD will only add around £36 to the cost (in exchange for RAID + 1TB Green) and for performance this will be worth it. :)

Think I've missed summat here :s Adding the SSD is over an extra £100...

To have RAID you need 2 x 1TB hard drive and the cost of the RAID configuration. By removing 1 x 1TB hard drive and the cost of the RAID configuration, the cost should only increase by around £36 to have 1 x 40GB SSD and 1 x 1TB hard drive.

The £999 quote I had in raid was 2 x 640, not the 1tb green. Think I'll ditch the SSD idea as it busts the magic grand figure. My current desktop is a 5 year old P4 3.2ghz so this thing should blind that for boot speed anyway lol
Think I'll go with the £979 quote ;)

Sounds great!

The SSD idea is quite expensive but does decrease OS loading times, etc, but due to the price most customers are sticking to standard HDD's at present.

A lot of people are turned off by the SSD idea, because of the cost. You set up looks pretty sweet though. Lol, burst the magic grand figure. I was first going to spend £1000 on a new PC. Some how it shot to £2122. All because of my "If your gonna do it, do it properly" motto lol.

I'm the exact same. I was looking at a AMD X4 Phenom II and an ATI 5770... Now I'm up to an i7 930, SSD and a 5970... A mere £1200-£1300 increase
