Bluescreening Laptop when playing high end games

Computer:

Skyfire (bought from here in November 2012)

Graphics card: Geforce GTX 675 M

CPU: Intel R core I7 - 3740Qm cpu @270Ghz
16 GB ram
64 bit operating system Windows 7
120 GB SSD
500GB HDD partitioned

Originally registered as Thoth - can't remember password or order number though....I think I may have it on an old machine somewhere

Anyway one of the Bluescreen errors I get is 0x0000016 which apparently is a compatibility issue between the drivers or Graphics card.

Crashes occur on Shogun 2 FOTS and also Rome 2 total war after anything from 5 mins to an hour.

So I rolled back the drivers via the control panel (it was at the lastest one) to i think 344 - did not solve the problem so i uninstalled the driver via the change or remove program - did clean install via nivida website of an older 337.88 Driver.

I uninstalled Nvidia Geforce experice and Phyx in case they where contributing to the problem

I also installed Malwareytes and it got rid of 15 GB of appsroaming data however bluescreens continued after this.

I also installed Furmark which is a GPU testing program - it found that Shogun 2 FOTS runs usually at 80 degrees c sometimes higher (alt Tabbing out and reading it) games like Hitman Blood money and Mount and Blade Warband run at around 70 degrees max.

Incidentally my C drive is very full - and I have not been installing anything on it I ran checkdisk on it and it had no bad sectors (though it had over 700 large sectors) - I looked on online on how to run Checkdisk to do that.

Over the last month I have also noticed my C drive getting ridiculously full - though that may be a side issue.

What do you suggest I do?

Have you upgraded to windows 10 recently by any chance? I guess you would have mentioned it but I thought I better double check.

You have already carried out most of the troubleshooting steps, are you in a position to perform a clean installation of the OS? That would all but rule out any issues on the software side.

Temps don't seem to be the issue, so it leaves a software issue (most probably IMO) or your GPU is just on its way out.

No I have not upgraded to Windows 10, ( Have heard rumors abut it)

unfortunately I am house-sitting for a family member and will be until 24th August and I have looked in my Laptop bag - and I must have taken my Windows 7 disk out. so No not really...

I do have a backup external drive and have a system image but I have not created a 'rescue disk'

Couple of things I may have forgotten to mention I ran a Burnit test on Furmak and it blue screened whilst doing so - which is a bit ominous. see: http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/330775-blue-screen-death-bsod-bsod-error-0x0000016.html

Out of curiosity what happens if its a failed GPU can PC specialist replace that or is it soldered in? I think my model is a Skyfire 2 which is a MSI chassis (looked it up a while ago - but I don't know which one) because if its soldered in then its a new laptop job with salvaging components to put in a new shell.
