Bluetooth problems

Hi all,

Just received my Optimus V today (finally!), everything seems to be working great so far, except the bluetooth. I ordered the laptop with the Killer 1202 wireless card, but the bluetooth doesnt seem to be picking up any devices, whether its my phone / ipod touch, which both pick up each other so its definitely not a problem with them. There's definitely some bluetooth devices installed, you can see from the device manager here

I'v noticed whenever I'm flicking through the properties of any of these bluetooth devices or the killer wi-fi, the properties window will just stop responding and I have to force-close it from task manager.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, and the wireless internet itself is working fine too

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Well i ordered it without an OS, as i had a win7 key already, but apparently win7 was already installed when i got it, so all i had to do was activate it.

Also, there's this program installed, Intel PROSet/Wireless Software and another program Intel PROSet/Wireless software for Bluetooth Technology, is this something that's even necessary? or could it be conflicting with the wireless card in any way? Since the laptop has the killer wifi card installed, not intel.

I'm not certain how PCS install their test OSs, it may simply be a standard image that they restore. I can't imagine the go though the complete install process for every PC/laptop?

I would suggest that you first ensure that you have all the latest drivers. You can download them either by logging on to PCS and then clicking Downloads under the Tech Support menu on the left, there you'll find a .zip file containing all the drivers for your build. Or, you can go to the Clevo website from where you can download the very latest drivers. The driver for your killer card you'll need to get from the Killer Gaming website.

Then I would suggest that you do a complete reinstall of the copy of Windows that you have. It needs to be a retail version, if it's an OEM version from another laptop you won't be able to activate it. Then install all the drivers, generally you should install the chipset driver first, after that the order is not that critical. Wait until all the drivers are installed before you start any testing.

Let us know how you get on. :)

Ok will do what you suggest and just do a complete reinstall of windows 7; was already expecting to do it anyway as I ordered without an OS, thought I could be a bit cheeky and get away with it lol.
Thanks for the advice and will see how it goes :)

Yep after a clean install of windows 7, everything seems to be running a lot better, and bluetooth is recognising my devices and its not crashing, think the laptop has even gotten a lot faster when booting up too :) There's no downloads in my tech support download section unfortunately, so just followed this thread

Very happy customer :) Now to try some gaming and see what this thing can do :D

Edit: Guess I won't be testing its gaming capabilities anytime soon, just ran windows update, 126 updates available, I hate installing windows :(
