Hi,

i got my laptop today, set it up and then i tried to find out how to turn on the backlit keyboard however i cant find anything to set it up or turn it on i pressed the short cut keys (Fn + *) to turn it on like it says to do in the book and it didnt work i tried to turn on airplane mode with f11 and instead it put the browser in fullscreen mode so i was guessing the drivers or something wasnt installed, so i put the driver disc in and it says that i have wrong OS im on windows 7 64bit so i installed hotkey drivers on the pc specialist website (i believe these are the ones i need) and i reset the laptop and now when i press Fn + * it says backlit keyboard on in top left corner however nothing is lit up, though if i press f11 airplane mode it doesent work even when im just on desktop.

Also i wanted to check out the Webcam so i click on the Webcam installer 4.041 shortcut thats been there since i first turned it on and it says IOExeption could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\BisonCam'.

Anyone know how to fix these things please help would be much appreciated :)

when you boot the laptop does the keyboard lightup even briefly ? Mine does, then goes off or changes to the colour scheme i have set depending on it's state when previously turned off. Chances are the driver is either wrongly installed or not installed. If you login to your account look on the left hand side of the home page near the bottom, there are links to all the drivers you may need for win 7 and 8.1 (this applies to your webcam as well).

ive rebooted and there is no lights from it, will i have to download all of the drivers from there or only certain ones?

Just the ones you need. I see one called 07 hotkey w7 which i would guess is for the keyboard ? I'm afraid it's not obvious to me which is the webcam driver.

well just called up support, the first time i called after i told him the problems with it i believe he put the phone down on me as it went dead so i was not happy about that, so i called back straight after and i dont know his name but he was really helpful, he fixed my headphones by taking control of my laptop by the web and for the backlit keyboard im having to send it back tomorrow so hopefully everything will get sorted when it gets back to me.

Your lucky Lance, i called them when my master disk went pop and also to report that the DVD RW was also broken... This was only a month after getting the PC and spending many hours configuring it. I purchased my PC through my company to use as a web DB. Long story short they will not send me a replacement disk and DVD RW without my sending back the faulty units despite their "helpdesk" telling me they would due to my circumstances. Their support team have been totally useless in resolving this issue and I am now having to take PC Specialist to court just to get a refund...

The Jack with the red light inside of it is the optical port for sound devices that use that sort of connection

They will ask for the units back as they have to send them back to the producer. Stop bombing other threads. The helpdesk just told you one incorrect thing, no need to take them to court when you could just send them back.

Well i have had my laptop back for just over a week, the keyboard wasnt lighting up as a cable was loose probably during transit he said in the report who fixed it, so that works now im abit shocked as i believe we cant have the colour white for the lights on the keyboard unless im missing it. The webcam shortcut is still saying the same thing when i click on it, but the webcam works when i go on a program that uses it like testmycam. I also havnt tested the driver disc yet to see if its the correct one if they sent the same one back i will be pretty p****d, i know i can get them online but with how much you pay for the product you want the correct one.

After all that though im really enjoying it, temps i get while gaming are from 50 to 65 for both gpu and cpu with no cooling pad though i have lifted up the back of it a little bit. On that topic though can anyone recommend a good cooling pad that isnt loud and runs by usb and im also wanting to get a case for it so ive been looking at getting a custom sleeve/bag so i can have my own picture on it does anyone know a good shop online that does these?
