Broken Laptop Screen - DIY Replace?

Hi all,

Hopefully you'll be able to help.. Cracked my laptop screen (HP Pavilion dm4 - the beats one) and was wondering if anyone knows how to change one out by themselves? Or would it require to be sent back to HP?

Anyone had a similar problem!?

Did you try youtube? I found some info there for a macbook

It is a fairly simple job. You will probably need to take off the keyboard, some screws will be hidden behind some plastic strips or covers. Then undo the screws on the bezel, which will be under plastic covers. Then its just a simple job of undoing the ribbon that connects the display to the motherboard and inserting the replacement.

Probably worth having a quick look at a youtube video for a rough idea on how to do it first. But 100% doable at home if you have some small screwdrivers and can source the replacement screen.
