well the 2x 690's will have more airflow(as another user suggested) to me that 3 cards will obv. increase card temp. I believe 2x Gtx 680 = 1 x 690, so mathematically 2x 690 is equal to 4x 680's, but really if I was you i'd just get a single 690 for now, and you can buy another 690 at a later date when games become more demanding. a single 690 will get you probably 80-120 fps in Bf i'd say from videos i've seen. ( on a single monitor )

as for the xeon 8 core, its really unneccessary to get it, a quad core i-7 is even to much if your solely using it for gaming, from what i've been told the 3rd gen, i-5 is almost exactly same as the i-7.

also upgrade to the silver warranty 5 pounds extra. and the 1600mhz is probably sufficient for 8gb of ram, I was told past 1600mhz, the ram can be slightly less stable

thats just what i've been told, but for games anyone will be able to tell you a single 690 will suffice for games now:)

and caviar black 1tb/2tb is faster than the green version. but that's entirely your choice.

go for the two 680s & get rid of the processor for an i5 processor , you will hit the 200fps cap limit with battlefield 3 as i did
(only in a benchmarking situation with no v-sync) , two gtx 680s are in fact more powerful than 1 x gtx 690 as the gtx 690 is two 680s but down-clocked , i wouldn't go with the tri or quad options as scaling just gets worse after the two card mark ( at a push i might get 2 GTX690s) , but you really wont need more than one of these & two 4gig gtx 680s will be all over any game like a cheap suit.
( unless its a poorly coded pile of pants like AC revelations or GTa 4 for example)

you could also consider GTX 670s SLI they are nearly as good as Gtx 680 cards are but cheaper , but im not sure you can get a 4 gb version of them.

I would also go for a better cooler for the processor , something like the titan fenrir ( just because it keeps the i5 so cool really)
