Bugdet builed for about 700£?

Overview

**budget:** 700-1000£

**Use case:** Mainly sims 4 and light gaming. Not more than 1080p, 60 fps

**Monitor:** None. Not included in budget. Probably some small 24-27”, 1080p, 60 hz monitor



Hello

My sister has asked me to try to build her a system for about 700£ ( 7000 ddk).

She manly plays sims 4 and just want something that is quicker and more responsive than her current all in one pc. Due to the budget, I cannot imagen anything above 1080p. Her main requirement is the case which need to be a white FRACTAL NORTH TG gaming case. Otherwise, she does not care too much. Her current all in one is a windows pc and I plan on helping her getting the license from it.

She would also need at the very least a screen, but that does not include in the given budget. (I might be able to gift her my 24” 60 hz 1080p screen)

Now I’ve tried a bit, and maybe I’m just a snob when it comes to components and what I would be comfortable with, but I haven’t found anything that comes close to that budget. Maybe 1000£ but still not something that I feel confident enough in to suggest.

So are there anyone with better knowledge than I, that can pull out some magic, or is my sister better of saving up for now?
For reference this is more like something i would offer her, both in terms of spec but also cohesion in looks, though way over bugdet. Also this is from an add I saw where I cannot change the ram down to 16 gb. Many of the parts seems unaviable from the standard "costumize a desktop pc" tap on the website

At that budget you either buy something second-hand, or you buy a PS5 / XBX.

As you have realised, anything worth it (i.e. not 'office-spec', 'throwaway' components) for decent 1080p gaming will be £1000+.

You could go for something like this. For the tasks you are talking about, an AMD iGPU would be sufficient for now, and could be upgraded with a dedicated graphics card down the line. I would expect it to be a very, very significant improvement over the chip likely to be in an AIO PC.

I think that's the only way to do it on a modern platform with an upgrade path. It's not everything I could want, but it is within your upper budget.

Is this a good idea? I'm not sure. But there are certainly worse ideas and it's a solid foundation.

Thank you! Im wondering if there is a reason you have gone with 32gb ram and the ssd? The 16gb 4800 pcs ram, and 1tb psc ssd saves about 100€, which with the bugdet is significant, and would hopefully mean a deticated graphics card sooner

Yes, but they're terrible. The SSD is a small difference in price for a very significant quality upgrade. The RAM is essential, really: 1x16GB 4800MHz memory will destroy your CPU's performance, which is especially crucial as that's also your video memory since it's an APU.

I would not make the compromises of buying poor quality components that will need replacing if you are going to try to upgrade in the future. It's not a good use of money.

I would probably stick with the 7600 over the 8600G, the 8000 series is aimed at AI. The 7600 out performs it and I believe they have the same iGPU (Or the 7600 may even be better), saves a few quid :)

Doesn't the 8600G have 8 RDNA cores and the 7600 only has 2.

So the iGPU in 8600G could be used for basic 1080p gaming (1030/1050 level), but the 7600 is only capable of driving monitors (or for trouble-shooting).

Good info to have. What I had read about the 8600G vs 7600 was that it was primarily AI focused and the actual core performance was less. If the iGPU is indeed that much more powerful then it's definitely worth a punt.

Just found this:


It doesn't show any gaming comparisons without a dGPU, but the figures on the iGPU chart tell an obvious tale.

It's still worth noting that the performance of the 8600G is nowhere near the 7600 in every other metric, so if a dGPU is considered I wouldn't want to opt for the 8600G personally. If no dGPU is in place though it's a no contest win :)
