Build advice req.

Hello. New to pc specialist. I was referred by a friend

It's been many years since I last built or even played on a PC, so I'm back to that stage where it's all quite overwhelming and struggling to make decisions.

Essentially what I'm after is a build similar to the PC of the month (May) build HERE but with a slightly better GFX card. Main reason is I recently purchased the Gigabyte Auros 144hz monitor and want to put it to its limit. I do only play casual games like Fortnite but I also stream at the same time, so that needs to be accounted for. And I quite liked the motherboard on the promotional offer for that reason. But yeah, if anyone could help, I'd appreciate it massively. I'm ok with spending a little more than the mentioned build but don't want to go OTT. £1600 or less I think!

It sounds like you've everything figured out. Have 2 tabs open, one with that build, then in the other one slowly copy&paste the configuration and get rtx 2070 or 2080 or even amd card. Basically everything is component for component identical but with one change in GPU.

Maybe something like this. If you don't need wifi you can drop the card and save £35.

The graphics will be the first thing you’ll want to upgrade, even if you buy the 2080ti. There’s no real future proofing to be done in PC land.

If anything when you buy high end graphics cards, you want to upgrade quicker to maintain the visual fidelity they produce.

What resolution is your monitor? If it's the QHD, 144hz Aorus, you could go for the 2080 or the 2080ti, if maximizing the frames is your priority.
You can have a look at some game benchmarks and see what sort of fps to expect from either of them.

And yes my aim would be to try get 140fps fairly constant playing a game like fortnite ^_^ I worry I may spend a lot on the pc and not get the real push I want for the monitor. May as well spend a bit extra and ensure I won't be disappointed I think!

Now I will firstly say the monitor I have is 1440p QHD Gigabyte Auros AD27QD monitor. My aim is to build a PC that will put this monitor to the test and not disappoint whilst playing games like Fortnite or CSGO at 144FPS. I was initially going to settle on an RTX 2070 but think it won't be long before I'm wanting a little more push on the FPS. Like if I'm going to spend so much on a build I may as well just get what I know I'll be happy with for years to come...? Anyway could you beautiful people just pinpoint any mistakes I may be making with the following choices please!

Looks good but if spending this much money, I would go for a better ssd. The samsung one or wd black would be more appropriate for this build. The 2080ti should give you the frame rate you are after. Have you checked any benchmarks to see how the gpu is performing in fortnite? The 2080 should give around 130fps at QHD if not mistaken but unsure on the ti version.

Thank you I did make a second build with Samsung SSD and 3000hz rgb ram. Not sure why I get slightly different options with different configurations but appreciate the advice. I agree on the SSD
