Both builds are very similar in price only about £15 difference. I will be gaming on a 1440p or 4k monitor i haven't decided as of yet.

Build 1 The CPU will be a 5600x the 3600xt is just a placeholder

Both builds have issues, but the first one has potential with a few tweaks.

What’s the budget and what will you be using it for?

We generally try to spec to the monitor, can we potentially help you with that decision?

I would recommend you decide on the monitor first, so that we can advise an appropriate pairing overall.

The 3600 wouldn't be a bottle neck but I think you would be remiss to not get the 5600X where the budget allows.

True I do think the 5600x would be a great choice however its either that and the 3070 or 3600 and the 3080 i cant atm go both 5600x and 3080. Maybe in 3 or 4 months i will buy a 5600x or a 5800x when i can afford it. I think i will also settle for a 1440p monitor but will be using ray tracing as well as maxing out all settings

Essentially, features and compatibility. X570 is regarded as being slightly superior and likely to have more longevity.

Thanks for help also what was the key issues you had with the 2nd build?

The tiny primary drive and the PSU were factors. But mainly opting for a 3080 when you’d not yet chosen a monitor. Likely to have a huge bottleneck situation if you don’t choose the right screen.

If you are playing the top graphic demanding games on a 1440p 144Hz monitor, you will be ok with a 1440p 144Hz monitor, you said you want to play at max setting, but remember the 3080 for a 1440p monitor is the very top end of a GPU, if you are not bothered about getitng max FPS, and max graphics settings it may not be worth it.

The main reason to go for the 3070 on this build is your budget, the 3080 is £200 more I believe, and if you have a tight budget the 3070 will also be fine. here is a link to a video shouldn't the difference between a 3080, 3070 and 20180TI at 1440p and 4k.

Edit: just to add in them benchmarks, if the FPS goes over 144 it's not going to be of a benifit, it's lost FPS, so keep that in mind, also remember I said the 3080 for a 1440p 144Hz is only of benifit for most graphice demending games and if you are really maxing out setting.

We love you Ukraine
If you’re getting the 3080 for 1440p you really need a 240hz screen for 2 reasons, one, most of you’re games will be bottlenecked by the monitor and two, you’ll have no upgrade path with the monitor when you upgrade the card which again is a massive waste.

It’s not a good idea to pair a 3080 with a 1440p 144Hz monitor.

Agreed. I have an ultrawide 1440p monitor paired with a 3070 and it’s running whatever I throw at it with ease.

I could have purchased a 3080 when they came out. Instead I waited for the 3070 because to pay an extra £200 for some minor graphical settings to be slightly higher in a few select games seems ridiculous to me. I’ve got better things to spend my money on 👍

So basically what im seeing is go for a 3080 if i plan to do 4k and stick with a 3070 for 1440p
pretty much, while I will offer my advice with the 3080 and 1440p monitor, thats all it is, as Agentcooper said, for him the extra graphical setting are not for him, yet they are for me, I like to give a different point with the 3080 just to incase thats what a person is looking for, not many are, either way, the system you are getting is going to bring you joy for some time to come, lets get down the importaint thing thats the gaming, I'm looking foward to assassin's creed valhalla thats coming out on the 10th of this month, cant wait to play it :)

It’s not ‘extra settings’. It’s things like the difference between having some textures and shadows at very high and some at ultra. Things that most people wouldn’t even notice if the two systems were playing the same game side by side. And this is only on a very small handful of games. For about 98% of games available there’d be no difference whatsoever on what’s happening on screen.

Some people like that, you don't thats ok, thats your view point, i gave the side that others do like that, there are different view points, yours is not always the right one

Some people can tell the difference, you ill guess you cant, and thats ok, thats your view point, i gave the side that others can see them differences, there are different view points, yours is not always the right one.

Please dont put a number out there like "98%" when you have no real numbers, for me the only game I have played thats gone over 144Hz (FPS) is Alien isolation, I was playing Metro 2033 last night and it got 133FPS, the problem is, you are basing this whole thing on your opinion, and with that you think your opinion is the right one. and I am sorry it's not the right one for every one else.

you gave your opinion on a 3070 1440p I gave mine on a 3080 1440p, I even said that if the person isn't looking for max setting in the most demanding games, then the 3080 may not be for them "but remember the 3080 for a 1440p monitor is the very top end of a GPU, if you are not bothered about getitng max FPS, and max graphics settings it may not be worth it." yet even though I said that, you still felt the need to point out your opinion again as it didn't fit yours, this is so true for this forum, if it's not the top 8 peoples idea of whats right, then it's wrong and thus cant be done in a different way.

So let me help you, click my name, once you do, click the "ignore" then you'll never see my opinion again, I have been polite and even sided with you in this thread, stating, "The main reason to go for the 3070 on this build is your budget, the 3080 is £200 more I believe, and if you have a tight budget the 3070 will also be fine. I just gave a different point of view and you cant handle it, so best you ignore me, also try and get off this point of trying to prove me wrong, you are just causing stress for your self, why is it so hard for you to accept that just becuse you cant see or tell the difference, or because you dont feel it's worth it for extra shadows and textures, that every one else has to be the same.

I have Aspergers, I am agoraphobic, i dont go out, who are you to tell me or anyone that I cant have something just because you don't want it. grow up, realise there are others in the world that are not like you and want/need more from the things they by other than what you deem to be acceptible,

Since you’ve joined this forum you’ve added a fair amount of hostility towards helpful volunteers who go out of their way to offer genuine advice to those who don’t have custom PC expertise. You mention stress but I think you are the only one showing signs?

OP - you would be wise to follow Coopers and Spyders advice!
