Build me a gaming laptop?

Hello all it's been a while since I've been on here bought a PC a few years back, but the time has come where I seem to spend more time travelling so a gaming laptop is seems to be the next logical part.

Budget is around 2000 but can stretch to 2500 if the upgrades are worth it and not overkill I'd like to be able to upgrade it later down the line when it comes to that point too, play a different range of games but obviously want to be at the higher end of the scale for all games

Thanks for the help its appreciated.

My reasoning for picking 17.3 inch laptop is that it'll have more space inside it to keep everything cool and under control. The second reason is there 3 different types of chassis for 17.3 inch laptops. Octane series is 40mm thick, Recoil series is 27mm thick and Defiance series just 20mm thick. Octane series is basically alternative desktop, it has desktop cpu and other desktop parts and it weighs 4kg compared to those other mobile laptops that weigh 2.4 kg.

Once you pick the chassis and the laptop size, the rest of the computer builds itself really.
You definitely want i7-9750H, it came out only 3-4 days ago, it's more power efficient, can pump those FPS up with more ease etc. RAM size is no brainer as well, in 2019, 16GB of ram is a must have and in the near future as well.
GPU, you could get away with RTX 2060 now, but RTX 2070 is a bit more future proof, has 8GB VRAM compared to 2060's 6GB VRAM. Has more of those Ray Tracing cores as well, that actually will be able to do something. RTX 2060 has enough to make you go "RTX On" but not enough to actually live up to the promise.
SSD, you can definitely use lesser SSD. Samsung 970 EVO Plus came out in February and it's the Alpha dog in the current market. But there are cheaper alternatives. IMO, you need at least 1tb SSD in 2019 if you play the latest AAA games. Those things are closing in on 100GB these days and 3-4 of those and you'd exhaust 500GB. Also since the file sizes are so huge, you need that SSD access speeds to load those huge maps in reasonable time.

Id go with what mustaf posted BUT if you want something a bit smaller, change the chassis to a 16.1 Defiance. It'll be smaller, lighter and just as / slightly more powerful :)

I disagree 100%. RTX 2080 MaxQ is no better than RTX 2070 mobile and you're paying so much extra for that laptop for negative performance gains. Check this link out, it's got basic benchmarks, I don't know how reliable those numbers are but it's out there.

Sure you get a laptop that's 300 grams lighter, a little bit smaller but you'd be paying £400-500 extra for it. Sometimes it's better to just man up and get the heavier laptop for cheaper. Carrying around extra half a kilo doesn't hurt anyone unless you''re hiking with these laptops
