Build me a gaming rig for £1800

I need a new rig to replace my outdated Laptop which is becoming obsolete, it's that old. I've saved a few months wages and would like something that can run most of the new releases on full specs.

Don't really know where to start :turned:

Might help if you told us exactly what you're hoping for.
What games will you play?
How many monitors?

etc.

All kinds of games, BF3, Deus Ex, FIFA 12, Shogun 2, RAGE when it's released.
Don't worry about the monitor, not interested in 3D.

Thanks Teaz, is it worth going for the GTX 590 instead of the 580 because it's almost a year old? The life span with cards is about 2 years max.

Case is your choice, i popped the case as a starter.

Personally in my view the 590 may have a better future proofing gpu core by a small amount but i would go for the 580 any day. the 580 has plenty of power for games. if its not enough for you, you can always go for a second which is much better than the 590 but a tad more pricey. its better, its stable and will have less heat, so i would go for the 580.

you can always add a second in future if you require to but 1 580 should last you a good couple of years. by that time, you may end up changin it to nvidias next flagship lineup or sli it depending on that point of time when the price of a 580 cheapens.

Is it worth getting an overclocked cpu because of the limited shelf life?

EDIT: Would that run most things on ultra? Like Deus Ex, BF3 etc.

if you are just gaming, its not really worth it, just stick with the normal one, it will last you ages :)

i recommend you remove those trials before them if you do not want unnecessary software

If you are getting this for gaming as your title says then forget the overclocks as they are not needed as these components are perfectly capable of handling what you want at stock speeds and with any overclocks you run the risk of having an unstable machine. I would stick with the spec that Teaz has done earlier as that is a really good system but i would change the case to either a Storm Sniper or if you have the room for it then get yourself the Haf-X.
