Buying a new gaming computer

Hello again, i posted about 6 months back asking for advice on geting a new computer, but would like to get an updated opinion before i purchase. I am looking for a gaming computer that will run all of the modern games and the ones to come on max settings such as bf3, call of duty, arma 3, halo, far cry and assassins creed ect, as well as to be used for office/college type work and a little dabeling in programs like cryengine, blender and photoshop, my buget would be anywhere from £600 to £1400.

Thank you for your recommendation, i really like the look of this build. Can you add a soundcard to it and if yes what card would you suggest? And it says this build only requires something like 450w, so would you suggest keeping the 750w power supply.

Sound cards are really overrated unless your doing music work, and the 750w power supply is more to future proof the machine, later on you can pop in another GPU and other things and still be safe.

You could add a soundcard if you wish but I'd suggest trying onboard audio first. I suggested a 750w PSU for you to have the option of adding a 2nd gtx 670 in the future.

You wouldn't need any additional cooling if you are planning to add a 2nd gpu. I am using windows 7, I am afraid I don't have any experience with windows 8.

I have tried 8 and gone back to 7. I think the Win 7 UI is the better choice if you multi-task heavily or just have a lot of applications installed.

If you can, however, get a look at 8 before you decide. If the attack-of-the-solid-coloured-rectangles look really appeals to you then you might find it worthwhile to put up with its annoyances.

What sort of framerates do you want to achive in these games ? particularly battlefield 3 , far cry 3 & asassins creed series

( i believe you want the max or ultra settings as you have mentioned )

also for my two pennies worth on windows 8 - if your going to use the metro functions then go with windows 8 - if not stick with windows 7 , its less annoying all round that win8 is all ill say

I just ordered it, i cant wait for it to arrive :D In the end i decided to go with windows 7 because im familiar with it and to be honest windows 8 looks horrible. I also just ordered a razor mouse and keyboard, the black widow ultimate stealth and the blackadder mouse. Thank you for suggesting this build, i am very happy with it and like the fact that i can upgrade it in the future without many issues.

Depending on your existing setup, you might want to consider getting some speakers to go with it. In my experience most built in monitor speakers are pretty poor (which I assume you are planning on using given the HDMI cable), rather worse than even some cheap £10-£20 speakers.

I currently have some very good speakers, creative somethink, i have had them for a couple of years, the sound quality is exellent, although i often use my turtle beach headset.
