Buying a new laptop

Hey guys
I am looking for a new laptop. I would use it mainly for editing videos & pictures, writing and working. I would prefer it to be lightweight, with higher screen resolution, at least 8 GB and at least 8 hours of battery life. I was thinking of buying a MacBook but I am not sure it is worth the money. Idk, what will you suggest?

What is your budget? Something like the Defiance is slim and weighs 1.9kg and is very powerful but the budget is the main thing, once you post that someone will put up a configuration for you.
