What’s it for? What programs or games?

What’s your max budget?

What monitor are you pairing it with? What resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you’re unsure?

That monitor is going to limit you, 1080p is really a dead resolution and most modern cards are designed for higher.

What's the total maximum budget you're looking at? We don't see monthly payments?

I earn approximately 1500 per month. So it means i won't be able to run it 1080 at 144hz? thanks

Sorry, I wasn't asking how much you earn, but what your maximum budget is for the build? We don't get to see the monthly payment breakdown, only the total cost.

My point is 1080p is a dead resolution, it's very old and most graphics cards these days are overpowered for it. 1080p will seriously reduce the visual potential of modern games and graphics cards.

You'd be better off investing in a 1440p 144hz monitor to make the most out of a modern build.

Alternative build https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am4-gen3-pc/3dk8Uy5HV!/

Monitor suggestions are for a £350.00 approx monitor that displays 1440p and at 144hz, alternative is a 4k display. The above AOC seems adequate.

The intel spec above has a stronger CPU however you'll only see a small benefit with this, whereas the amd spec quoted will give you a 2080 Ti which has a more significant impact on gaming performance.

Again feel free to adjust the storage, cooling and PSU to your needs and any other features.

Also the 2.5 inch seagate barracuda SSD is slightly faster and slightly more expensive so feel free to up this.

Also some comparisons for you to measure up.

CPU

GPU
User Benchmark and the like should literally never ever be used, they're utter junk results that don't make any sense in the real world.

They match up all users not taking into account overclocks or model variations. They're literally meaningless results.

The difference between the R7 3700x and the I9 9900k at 1080p there is a noticeable difference, but when you consider the price difference, it's still barely worth it.

Once you up the resolution to todays norms of 1440p and 4k, you'll find the difference drops phenominally due to AMD's multi threaded advantage, you're literally talking a max of 5fps difference which at over 144fps doesn't make any difference anyway to 99% of gamers.

Add to that that AMD recent BIOS updates have ADDED performance improvements up to about 5% with further enhancements to be added with further updates:

And round that off with the fact that all Intel chips suffer from MAJOR security bugs that Intel refuse to address it a hardware level, and OS and microcode updates keep being rolled out that is decreasing their performance, below is just the latest one:

I'd highly recommend NOT considering Intel, they're an absolute rip off company that have done their best to control the market for many years out of greed. They have no affinity to their loyal fan base, and have now been fully surpassed by AMD.

Thanks Spyder, Must admit I was always hesitant to suggest Intel chips and the only one I have been suggesting to people has been the 9900k if you have a very high budget. Other than that I always suggested AMD 3600/700x and 900x. Did see the 3950x was due out soon and well see how that goes.

Thanks for the info, always learning :) Further reassures me that I made the right choices for my budget and that Intel is currently Team Poo.

So back to OP, a 3700x and a 2080 Ti will maximise his performance with consideration for value on current hardware?

Right on budget too https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am4-gen3-pc/ZbpGTEC!gc/
