Hello there.
About 5 years ago with the help of this great forum, i built a desktop with the specs listed below.
Lately it has begun to run a little slow It almost feels like it's having a problem processing.
So i am wondering, is is time for a new processor?
And if yes, then do you guys have any advice on a processor that is compatible with my current build?
Help is much appreciated as i am clueless on this kinda thing.

Hiya, when you say things are running kinda slow, what exactly is running slow?

Are you still on windows 7?

Modern chips would require a new motherboard, RAM and CPU, but that being said it’s quite possible you just need a reinstall of windows or gpu upgrade.

My guess is it's going to be a combination of the system itself and the HDD. If you got yourself a decent SSD HDD with a fresh install of windows it would feel like a completely new system.

Slow older systems with only an HDD are almost always the result of poor HDD management. The HDD is far and away the slowest component in any PC (by several orders of msgnitude) so it's vital that it's managed properly to offer the best performance possible.

You don't want the HDD more than about 70% full.

You do want to uninstall programs you no longer use from an HDD

You do want to archive or delete data you no longer use from an HDD

You do want to regularly garbage clean an HDD

You do want to regularly defrag an HDD

As mentioned, the best upgrade you can make to that system now is an SSD for Windows and programs. Keep the HDD for user data. Anything else is going to need a new board.
