Can I upgrade?

I've recently purchased a Genesis IV laptop with a nVidia 630m graphics card. I was purely wondering whether it would be possible to upgrade it to one of the newer cards avaliable? I've used the Pc Specialist Upgrade Service and that states there are no upgrades avaliable. However I want to know whether it is possible?

From a previous thread it was mentioned that it is only possible to upgrade the gpu on the Skyfire and Vortex series.

Oh okay, well if that is the case.. Do you have any idea whether these specs will be able to run games such as; Garry's Mod, ArmaII (dayz) and many other games similar to that?

Processor - intel dual core i5 3210m 2.50ghz
Memory - 8gb 1600mhz
Graphics - nVidia 630m 1gb
HDD - 250gb 5400mhz

It runs games such as GTA IV well but I don't want to go ahead and purchase the games without knowing..

This website should give you an idea of the capability of the card. Arma and GM as far as i know arent too graphics heavy games and if it can run GTA IV well i think you would be alright.

If it runs GTA IV, it will run ArmA II, since the latter is very CPU dependent, and yours seems to do a good job.

Per SmokeDarKnight's link, the GT 630 appears to be a remake of the GT 540, both being Class 2 graphics cards. ArmA II can run even on Class 3 GPUs, like the two generation old GT 330 + Intel i5 430M, see - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBU6ViX_nuU

And last, but not least - Garry's Mod (Source engine) used to perform admirably back in 2005 on whatever hardware was current at that time, so it shouldn't present a problem for your particular configuration. : )
